I think that it's a shame that a beautiful river and rocks in the middle that have been used for years for recreation, and someone sets there all day long with a big dog "like were suppose to be afraid", also big signs in the water and on the bank!!!! Give me a break. We know you are not from here or you wouldn't be acting this way. If you are so concerned about your property and someone getting hurt exiting the river. Just put up a sign and say not responsible for any accidents. Let everyone enjoy what we have for years.

Those rapids have been a major attraction for years, many years!! No one really knew that is was private property until those ladies made it a big deal. I still don't see how 2 women can claim they own to the middle of a river that is public property, owned by the forest service, which is owned by the people. The ladies only own the bank that goes into the river, because the county has the road right of way of 30 ft. Why they have to be snots about it, you can't build on it, but yet you allow a rafting co to put in & take out. So why is it difficult to let locals and tourist use it. It a nice river and everyone needs to enjoy it.

Not everyone from Florida is a parasite. We love the mountains, the people here, and we too are angry at these women and their behavior. Remember, its people from Florida like us that help the economy up here by pumping monies and owning real estate. Yes, there are idiots everywhere.

I stand behind property rights whether I like them or not. The only way to fix the problem is to buy your own property, access the river via usfs, or have the laws changed. Under current GA law the lady could fence off the Toccoa if she wanted to. So the more people break the law and push her, the worse it could get. The toccoa is 67miles long with plenty of public access points. Who cares about her section. I have read the OCGA regarding navigability and there is nothing you can do, but a whole lot she can do. Why cry over the few thousand feet that is private when there is miles and miles of public. One other possibility is for the county to take the problem, however Im not very educated on that process.

It a nice river and everyone needs to enjoy it. That is incorrect. Under current GA laws for a river classified non-navigable the do not just own to the bank, low water or high water mark. The property owners on the toccoa either own to the centerline or all the way accross. The ONLY thing they cannot do is restrict the natural movement of the fish. They can put a fence accross it, but it cant restrict the fish. This stems from GA's ancient laws implemented for running cattle.

The point is some people just like to be a butt and give our county a bad name. I also agree if it were not for new people in this county that our economy would be in a lot more trouble than it is in. Builders, Concrete finishers, supply stores. I can't understand why people like to put people down for wanting to live in this beautiful area. As for the "ladies" they can leave!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the support. We can tell you that the vast majority of people we have met up here over the years are decent. We plan to pull up and continue to take photos along the bank.

Thanks MAD NATIVE. Most of the natives we have met are decent people. As for the river bank, we will continue to take photos and pull over and see the river. Does anyone know what went on at the rapids with "the ladies" and Fannin County Sheriffs office on Tuesday afternoon? Someone that passed by said that things looked pretty heated. Let us know if you have heard anything.

If they only own property on one side of the river, they own to the middle of the river. And they can't put up a fence or barrier. If they do own both sides of the river, they can put up a fence, but it has to be high enough above the water so people can navigate through it. They can stop you from fishing if they own both sides, but they can't keep you from floating through it. They don't own the water, just the land under it. And yes, everyone from Florida is a parasite. I don't care about the "monies you pump". Fannin County was getting along just fine without all of you, and everyone got along a lot better with each other. You all do nothing but cause problems or say "Oh we love these mountains so much better than Florida." Then you try to make our county just like the craphole you came from. Does that make any sense to anyone?
