I guess there are morons with no common sense running schools everywhere, not just here in South Carolina. Ease up on the kid. I can't imagine going without a loved one like that who is fighting in that mess this government has created.

1 Looks like he can't follow basic rules. The mother is a real fool going to the media, etc. She needs to teach her brain dead kid discipline. She evidently is another, in a long line of, military spouses who think they are special. |

This is so silly. In life there are times when we should be more humenlike, people have forgotten all about how to handle certain issues that shouldn't be handle by a code of conduct!

1 I agree that shcools must have policies and procedures for students receiving phone calls, but in this case, I think if the father had the opportunity to call his son, he certainly would not want to get lost in the school's automated telephone system. I have called my child's school, and had my called transfered to teachers that don't answer their phones. I have called and have left messages for my child to call me, and the messages went undelivered. I think this is an exceptional case, and we should be glad that his father was even able to call him at all! Good Grief! Give it a rest !!! |

Apparently you have more information than this article provides.....however, perhaps you should put the bong down and offer some respect to the families of our soldiers who are away fighting for your right to slam their spouses who have a harder burden at home.
I realize that there are specific issues with this story that apparently have rubbed you the wrong way, but don't generalize all military spouses; otherwise, using your logic, we might assume all people named Chong are idiots as opposed to just the one's that add bong to their name.

2 What you fail to understand is the difficulty and time limitations that a person has to make phone calls from certain area's of the war zone. I just got back from there and it isn't easy calling home from the limited phones. You have about 1 phone for every 200-400 soldiers depending onyor loction. The bas I was on had 30 phones and we had over 10000 soldiers and civilians. |

THIS IS AS CRUEL AS A SCHOOL DISTRICT
COULD BE. A MAN AWAY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM AND HIS SON IS BEING PUNISHED FOR THE CALL HE GOT FROM HIS DAD. |

1 He isn't the only father/parent in IRAQ and alot of children in the schools deal with not talking to there dad. This kid isn't any different. He also broke the rules for having a cell phone in school, the suspension should stay for breaking this rule. PS - I guess a child with a parent in prison, should be allowed phone calls also, because they can only call at a certain time. Due to good behavior and who knows when they would be in danger in prison. Mom, you are at fault for allowing your child to have a cell in school. |

1 So you think because you are deployed, you have rights to call your child in school?. You raised your hand and joined the military. If you don't want to go to war, be a civilian and don't say I do and expect special treatment. |

It is the schools fault. |

Explain why it's the school fault by doing their job. Enlighting us please. |

Cell phone policies in schools is a good idea. However, when you have a student that does everything possible to do good in school and steps out of line once, you must look at the offense as well as the students past record. Two day suspension for the use of cell phone if it is the first offense is a bit much. If you are going to punish, and I am not saying that punishment is not in order, why not use after school detention or something. Administrators should put themselves in the place of this parent and child.

I agree that with the schools policy, BUT if there was a previous agreement to allow the young man to receive calls from is Dad, let it go, abide by your agreement with the military Dad and layoff his son
