This is the title of a letter to the editor of the Cove Hearld, Thursday, May 8, 2008 To the Editor: Today, Copperas Cove is in an internal convulsion because of the actions of certain citizens in the community. Members' resentment of the voters' choice is an ensalvement of voters' rights - those rights that differed from their political opinions. Should Copperas Cove keep eating this diet of bane, all it will give it is ulcers. How the Bill Thomases of our city manage to grab so much space (Our Readers' Views, April 10), hold so much attention and turn things so much to their view, no one really knows. But there are those, like him who are trying to dominate the rest of us with their political bias. How do you feel when a 12-year old tells you "I'm tried of this city"? Even the child's morale is deeply eroding. It this a war? Copperas Cove has always demonstrated the collective wisdom of the general citizenry is far safer than the selective prejudices of a self-egotistic elite. Not once in Cove's prior history have we had a dictator rule; we are caretakers of a heritage which has proved sound in our city affairs until now. It is clear that Copperas Cove will become more crowded, uglier and less livable - unless it changes its methods. Copperas Cove has never had one-sided thinkers. Now dirty-plot plays are running rampant, wreaking havoc on the citizens and city. This convulsion is forming a revolution - a struggle to unfurl and diffuse in a thundering voice the bane this community has been subjected to. Mud is mud, no matter who is creating it. I will just repeat what freedom is: it is the right to defend the rights of speech, assembly, religion and press. It is therefore essential that a responsible order be secured for the betterment of our community and its future. M. Billman Copperas Cove

Very well put. I would imagine things will change after Saturday's election. The end is near for Thompson, Gardner, Lees, Reeves, Harris and company.

Seems ol' King Richard has gotten into trouble wherever he has gone. I believe it was Halthom City where he was city manager and he pulled a gun (aka Fred Harris) on one of his daughter's boyfriends. But you're right - we never had problems like this when Richard Torres was city manager. He also left with the city's bank accounts nice and full.

Best to hire him for a temporary appointment not to exceed 6 months. He should be able to get rid of all the garbage by then.

I see where the Special Interest Group is sponsoring John Gallen and Joseph Solomon in large advertisements in todays newspaper via Bill Thomas.

I see where Willie Goode has a hard time remembering things also in today's hearld and has had several warrants issued for him because of this. Is this the type person you want to take over the council ? What will he do with the tax payers money pay his bills ?? Also if you look at the warrant paper work it states he is employeed by sheppards funneral home ? Though he did not work there ?

Bill Thomas is their unwitting mouthpiece. The ad will state "Paid for by Bill Thomas". He gets his money from the Dewalds, Mickans, Clarks, and the rest of the developers.

Willie Goode is not, read - IS NOT - employed by Sheppard's Funeral Home. Bill Thomas and his cronies are starting another character assassination of a good man. Wasn't enough they took O'Dwyer down the tubes. Perhaps we need to even the event a bit. Solomon is a member of that religious cult - CHOP. You want this guy on your council??? Gallen is a high school teacher who spent two consecutive terms on the council and voted for every tax increase, water rate increase, drainage fee increase, etc that came before the council. He has no ideas of his own. He just follows the status quo.

When you get your electric bill and it has an increase in the rate I guess you just pay the old rate?? It takes money to run the show and the city can not stop because you can not pay. It is bad that people fall behind and they do need help but the city can only do so much. Kommunist Kove wrote: <quoted text> Willie Goode is not, read - IS NOT - employed by Sheppard's Funeral Home. I don't know anything about these warrants on Willie Goode. Perhaps you can clarify these warrants. What are they for - murder? Assault? I'm sure they're very criminal, because Willie is such a huge physical specimen. I do know, after talking to him at one of the city council forums, I like his ideas. Vote for Gallen and it will be business as usual - raise taxes (remember, Cove has the highest taxes of any city in Central Texas), raise water rates, raise this, raise that, rubber stamp this, rubber stamp that.

If you think you have trouble now just recall 4 council members at one time. You and the city have a chance to get the property taxes lowered or at least not raised with the retail mall that is coming in lots of tax revenue from it. But if we do not have a council for 7 months then the decisions that have to be made for it will not be voted on and the developer and TXDOT will just move to the next city that is ready and you will have what you have right now very little so continue to drive to Killeen. I've already stated the way to go is recall 2 at a time. I don't drive to Killeen to shop much. If I can't find it in Cove, or even if I can, I like the quiet, peaceful drive to Lampasas.

I think there is a way to set some replacements on the council if the four are thrown out. Yes I think we should have just thrown out two and got the rest after the election. Sure the ones left could cause trouble but they would be in the minority. We started it now so let's see what happens.

Hunto there is no way around it you will be without a council for 7 months. KK look around you the prices on everything are going up, Gas, Food, Movies nothing is without a price.

Well if it is a warrant it surely stemmed from a violation of the law. Does it matter what law it was? There are different level of law violations but a violation is a violation.
