Why, Coverocks, thank you for the kind offer. I'll fill in the rest of the details about Catfish night. It occurs the 2nd Friday of every month from 6-8PM. The price, currently, is $7+ drinks. The public is invited, of course, non members are limited to non alchoholic beverages. However, if you would like to become a member, simply bring in documentation supporting your eligibility and there is always a member ready to assist a potential new member. If you like "greens" Ms Faye's will cause your tongue to slap your eyebrows. Also, there is usually a group giving country line dance lessons at 7PM. Just watch the KDH "On the Agenda" section.

The all-u-can-eat catfish is great, you need to try it out. Most of the indiviuals there are great.

Rabbit Fest was not over 2 weekends. Jack Rabbit Run 4 Hope was held on May third with all proceeds going to Hope Pregnancy center. Rabbit Fest was held May 15th through 18th. Ogletree Gap Heritage Festival going on for 25 Years) is held at our beauitiful Ogletree Gap Park in October. There are plans in the works of doing a western theme town at Ogletree Gap Park. Did you know that the Brazos Bottom Cowographers are the Texas ambassadors for the Chamber of Commerce. They are invited all over Texas to fests, etc. and they promote CC and do an outstanding job.

I am so sorry, I know the Motor Cross was a huge success, but I am told it can never come back because of extremely high insurance costs. This type of communication is great, now lets all continue this with all of our communication,

Hey Hunto why don't you take your idea to the Chamber of Commerce and volunteer to help bring the soapbox idea to Rabbit Fest. I think that is a super event to get more citizens involved with our community.

My big problem in attending many of these things is transportation. I am wheelchair bound but get around town in a mobility scooter. It has the range to get pretty much anywhere in town, and if someplace would be stretching the range there is the Hop, however, most events happen at night or on the weekends, when the bus doesn't run, if it even goes there.
There are several people in our city that would be more than happy to come get you and take you to events, you could volunteer when you get there and enjoy the event even more.

I did take it to them a couple of months ago. They were interested but they never called me back to make their meeting. Since then I have taken my cart apart. I'm still kind of interested but I would like to stay back in the shadows as much as possible. One of my contacts that said they would like to participate was the Chevy place. I also stopped by the fire station to see if they might be interested. The police could get involved and challenge other Police departments. Would be a great advertising for Car shops, Pluming businesses, Realtors, Builders, Boy scouts, YMCA, Churches, I would still help but don't want to be in charge.
I checked the park out and it has plenty of shade where the event would be held.
I wrote what themes the carts could take, such as as a commode, a bathtub, stream lined carts ,Beds, rockets, tanks all on wheels that could be steered. That would be for the adults. I think we all could have a laugh. Costumes for the participants that fit their theme. I also wrote how large and the specifications. Just a month ago I deleted all the information , application forms,
sample pictures, advertising information and
Everything to get started. Just needed a Leader to to organise.
A little advertising in the paper and maybe TV would bring a lot of people.

I like your idea, Hunto, but I'm with you, too. I just don't want to be the leader. maybe the cubscouts? Didn't they used to do something like this.
Oh, and something else good about Cove - Burger King is fast and accurate for lunch - and friendly.

I like reading this. I hope we can keep it at the top of the blogs.
My good thing is the many churches and how involved they are.

A new bank building for the First National. Things are looking up. I don't know who is doing or paying for the work but the Spec Building area is also looking up. I know Walmart is temporarily storing things there. At least the EDC is getting a little money back.

A way to make our City a little more pleasing to the eye could be accomplished by more people volunteering to inspect assigned areas through out the City. Something like block Captains. Reports could be sent to the city for action. This would help the code enforcement people that could put a little more bite in the action. Pictures could be taken and sent via the Internet
along with the report.

EDC will keep more than %50 of the money. All improvements will enhance the building and not at taxpayers expense. It will not interfere with the entertainment center.

My family and I really appreciate the cove theater. Although we were sad they had to raise their prices, it's still a nice place to take the family and catch a movie. You don't see theaters like that in many towns anymore.

WOW, I am so glad that this blog is so positive and full of suggestions. This is the way things should be in all communications, finding ways to come together and make a difference. We can all agree to disagree, but then when the majority (whoever they are) makes a decision, we need to support that decision. Be vocal, but be kind. Forgive and forget! Move on, live today, plan for tomorrow learn from your past, but remember it is the PAST!

Gee, Hunto, your idea sounds kind of sovietish. I don't mean to say that I think its a bad one. But, consider the many ways in which it "could" be abused, misconstrued, etc, AI, AN.

If we don't have enough full time code enforcers, as we don't according to the city, then we need to do something even if we have to step on a few toes. The rules could be written in such a way to protect the offending people. I hope this still falls with in being positive.

A great place to get a hair cut is Kay's Barbershop on 190 in Cove. She and the other Barbers cut your hair just like you want it. They are always polite and cheerful. By the way they also have appointments.

I think your idea is great, too, Hunto. I wish that could happen, too. I think it could even be like one of those festivals, like Rabbit Fest, just have vendors come in. There's something down there in the fall, too.
I just don't know who does the work for it. It is probably a lot of work to organize.
The Chamber of Commerce does all of the organization and planning for Rabbit Fest, Bike/Run Central Texas and Ogletree Gap Heritage Fest. They do an outstanding job, but cannot accomplish that mission if not for all of the wonderful volunteers that help put on these events year after year. They all work long and hard to bring these events to CC. Support them by attending all of these events. I have heard the Ogletree Gap Heritage Fest has free admission this year, hopefully it can continue if they at least break even on their fest. Help make this possible by attending all of the events that the Chamber does.

Try again they are extremely busy there and could use the help.
