Having taught at CCHS for nine years, I moved on. After reading these postings I can see I did the right thing for myself. The majority of the students I worked with were fine young men and women...with parents who were supportive. These students have parents that have instilled both discipline and respect, since most come from military back ground. The problem with Cove it it is run by only a few and you have to be one of the good "ole boys". Looks like house cleaning is in order. Start with the school board and then the administration. Put in people in place of authority who have compassion and common sense!

I hope you never have a parent go to the media about you, tell one side of the story be judged as out of line and not be able to tell your side of the story. That is what happened. If you are an educator it could happen to you and not because you did anything wrong.

That is risk all educators face. My comments were more about the big picture. It is a shame that all CCHS is getting a bad rap, as the teacher's there are exceptional.

So run for the school board, become an administrator, support a candidate, vote. Otherwise you are just like a lot of people I work with wa,wa wa,

Now there are the issue. That was exactly my point. You would be a great for any of these positions, as you are not afraid to get to the bottom of things and speak out. You would have my vote.

The true villain here is the mother. The student broke the rules, got caught and received his justly due smack on the hand. He exacerbated the issue by calling his mother to whine about his punishment. The mother over reacted and called the father, and said he needed to call his son. What the mother should've done was to tell her son, "We'll talk about this when you get home."
