Conversion of Analog TV to DTV

If you plan on converting your over the air analog TV to digital you better hurry. The $40 coupon the government is giving away takes a long time before you receive it.
I requested two coupons from the Government for digital to analog converter Boxes which took three months before I received them. After I received the cards (coupons) the stores were all sold out of the converter boxes. It took two weeks before they got another shipment. After getting my first box I tried two coat hangers, one connected to the center conductor and one to the ground shield of some scrap RG6 cable I had laying around. I received 21 channels wright off the bat. I thought if I can receive 21 channels with coat hangers what would I receive with a professional antenna, I bought a high gain multidirectional UHF antenna and installed it today. The number of channels received now is only 20. I think if I rotate it I should get more. I am very pleased with the pictures that it produces from the HD signal.
My box is made by RCA, on the back it has a cable connection for antenna in, a Cable connection to TV, RCA out jacks Video, right and left audio and a connector labeled smart antenna. Don't know what the smart antenna is yet but I will find out.
It comes with a remote control which can control your TV input, mute, closed captioning, volume, channels and PGM.

Has anyone else tried the boxes?

Don't need to buy these digital converter boxes. I have satellite TV and it has served me well the past few years.
How can you ever receive 20+ channels using an ordinary outdoor antenna system? I tried it when I first moved to Copperas Cove 24 years ago and couldn't get but channels or so, and I live on top of one of the hills.

Personally, I think it is just a measure to prop up the cable and satellite tv industries. After all, they want to get money out of everyone, even those who don't wish to subscribe to their services. It doesn't bother me, though. I've been a sattv subscriber for some years now. I'm just waiting for someone to file for repeal of the law.

Ladies and gentlemen this is free TV. The only cost to you would be $10 after the Government $40 coupon. I also have FREE channels on my satellite system. Many channels from different states and a lot of foreign channels all over the globe.
Does not have anything to do with Direct TV, Dish Network or Time Warner cable. No one is making any big bucks. If I didn't want to give up my identity I would invite you over to check my 20 channels from the over the air box and my HUNDREDS of channels I receive on my satellite system. Remember this is all digital and is much different from the old analog systems. If it wasn't for the HBO I receive from the Direct TV I would cancel and everything would be FREE.
