On January 1, 2010, Old Jack will own another non-income producing property. Good job Jack!!! I suppose it will take several years to get a tenant for that dilapidated building. O'well. All good Realtors know "location, location" is the real deal. Unfortunately, the old CLP building is in a very poor location. I see bankruptcy in Jack's future.

Bill Thomas will probably enter into the picture. Not taking up for Smith (because he hates drunks,as we also do) but because the LP didn't handle the story correctly. Remember he doesn't like Larry.

Actions (whether positive or negative) of "people of notority" (of which, in our town, Jack Smith is) will always be reported on. Nobody should be drunk and acting up at a school event; as a sponsor (his name is all over the stadium, Jack would have been livid if someone else had been up there for one of Jack's sons' games acting up. How can anyone (just look at the entertainment news and see how the actions of celebrities are reported)even question L-P reporting Jack's disruption at the game? And Jack, pretty much you are to blame for bringing this situation back to the front page by deciding to evict the L-P.

Had the last issue of the LP not had the headlines I would not have even known that Smith was arrested. I did not read the issue that had the story. 75% of the people in the Cove didn't even know anything had happened until now. No doubt, he added to it by evicting the LP. Not a very smart move. There will be talk about this for some time to come.

There will be talk about this for some time to come. May have had a couple of shots before he signed the move-out order to the Cove Leader Press. Copperas Cove Police department really looks good on this one. They actually tried to assist him in avoiding the pokey, but they could only take so much mouth before they arrested him and hauled him off. The Cove Leader Press did not make him get drunk and make a fool out of himself at a high school football game. A real disgrace to himself, his family and friends, Donny McMullin Real Estate, Texas Board of Realtors and many others. He has a lot of amneds to make and he is sure getting off to a bad start by evicting the Cove Leader Press. What a Christmas present to give!

A public apology , now , would not hurt him in any way. The issue is not going to just die over night. For a fact his popularity is not going to soar. Had this happened some where other than at a foot ball game it may not looked so bad.

Isn't Jack Smith the son-in-law of Donlie McMullen ?

Yes, but that does not make McMullen responsible for the actions of his son-in-law.

I was in no way trying to tie the guilt to Donlie McMullen. Should not even asked the question. It has to be an embarressment to him. I apologize for bringing up the subject.

Class c mistemeanor. If it is good for the LP to print that one, then they should print all. Speeding tickets are the same level of offence. So get real. The LP was upset about Jack raising the rent, and we all know the rent was was too low for that size of a building. Has anyone ever had the police trail individuals leaving Applebees after having many drinks. What goes around sometimes comes around.

Just like there are bullies at school, towns / cities have bullies. GOOD example on school property.

Have only been here 6 years but during that time I have seen a few people try to run things their way. These people don't seem to be the most popular citizens. During the past two or three years they seem to be been losing their clout. At the same time we have a few that are tng to take their places. More unity is needed in City Government. The EDC has been a sore spot within the City. Appears that a couple in the group are on an ego trip. Maybe since this guy Conner is gone things will get better.

I pity da fool that gets a speeding ticket but i dont pity da fool that gets arrested for public drunkenness! Da alcohol is da devil's juice and i dont pity da fools that consume excess amounts of da devil's juice and then act stupid! Make betta choices and you wont be a fool nor will you end up in the local paper and the subject of town folk fodder! MissTemeanor

I know Jack Smith. He is a fine man, good supporter of Copperas Cove. He wishes this hadn't happened, but it did. I am glad my mistakes weren't headline news but the good thing about the LP being the paper to run this article is that very few people read it. Also, most people in Cove know that a frequent guest at Applebees is usually drunk several nights a week and he is driving on the streets. Let's let this rest.

Obviously enough people read the L-P that Jack got upset enough to evict the paper (this has nothing to do with the amount of rent they were paying). Jack handled the situation unprofessionally.

Jack Smith may be a fine man, A good supporter of Copperas Cove. Had a big ad on the local football broadcast. But what kind of example did he set by being drunk at a local football game ? Maybe there are not a lot of people that read the LP but word of mouth has gotten the word out to the public. When you are a public figure you need to act like one day in day out. I am amazed at some of the people that just want to brush this off and go on as if nothing happened. SAD SAD SAD
