Mark my words, Jack Welch will get WHATEVER he wants and it will be by a 7-o vote by the board. We are the closest thing to the University of Copperas Cove south of Odessa Permian. When is this town going to wake up. I'm fed up. Jack could ask for a NEW stadium and get it 7-0, especially if he threatened to resign. We already pay the 3 Welchs a quarter of a million dollars a year. Enough is enough. By the way the entire cost of the scoreboard is not paid for by advertisements. That is a bald faced lie. It was accepted by a 7-0 vote because"Jack Welch" said it. nuff said!

That scoreboard hasn't been paid for yet, now we're told it needs new repairs and parts.

They doubled the price of the food in the lunch room to help pay for it.

Ever wonder why very few of our football kids get scholarships? I do. You see them in the paper signing but very few actually get a scholarship.

100% dead on. I know the fans don't want to hear it, but this is exactly what is going on. did you ever wonder why CCISD won't build a second High school when it has been needed for years? They don't want to breakup the fantastic football team. Simple, Football is above all other considerations. A lot of "less than great" players never make the team due to this. Coach Welch, family and friends are highly overpaid and have too much say-so on activities at CCHS-period. These are the cold hard facts! fed-up wrote: Mark my words, Jack Welch will get WHATEVER he wants and it will be by a 7-o vote by the board. Horseshit. Temple has a population of over 50K - why don't they have a second high school. Bryan HS has over 3500 kids - where's their second high school. A&M Consolidated is also much larger than Cove. Now maybe Jack Welch does have too much power, but don't give me this line of bull y'all wrote above. And the man has sent more kids on to play college ball in the past 15 years, on scholarship, than Cove had in their previous 50 years.

Here is my take on the issue. Jack Welch and his staff are quite talented at what they do. There can be no doubt about that. Under their guidance the Dawgs went from being the team that EVERYONE wanted to play for homecoming to three consecutive state finals, plus the overflow influence on the ENTIRE sports program. I hear pretty good things about ALL Bulldawg teams. A town the size of Copperas Cove really has no business fielding one of the top 3 highest paid head coaches in a state the size of Texas. It strikes me that a shift of priorities is needed. Coach Welch and his able staff have taken our kids to 3 consecutive state final games. Let's shift focus, just a bit, and see what Dr Cameron needs to take the entire district onto State Champion in the TAKS.

You need to look at how many have been sent from other schools that have the same success as our kids have given us. Look at how the recruiting process REALLY works and you will be sadly aware that we are not doing any justice by these hard working young men. Please do not be "snow-blind" when you look. Ask people who REALLY know.... not the school who has misrepresented this number to make themselves look good.

Hmmm... let's see here. Eleven football players from the 2008 Dawgs signed to play in college. Now it may be true that some weren't offered an athletic scholarship, but that's still 11 who will go on and play college football. The girls' soccer team just had three sign athletic scholarships to play in college. From what I read, that's the first time that's ever happened at Cove and the first soccer scholarships since 2001. The boys' team will also have one or two I'm sure. The volleyball team has had two sign. The girls' basketball team will have at least two sign, and the boys' basketball will have at least one sign. That's pretty good.

Whazzup: If you are so against Jack Welch, his brother and son coaching the Dawgs, grow a pair of balls and appear before the School Board and request they replace him. I'd be willing to bet you haven't got the guts to do that. You're just another blowhard on here. The results speak for themselves - 4 regional appearances, 3 state semis, 2 state championship game appearances in the last four years.

You know well enough that it will take a community uproar. They appeared last week with tons of proof about the volleyball coach and none of it was even heard by the school board. The community is getting a bit more and more aware of the facts and eventually will stand up for themselves. Your selective perception of the facts is very curious and highly a naive one.

From what I read in the Leader-Press, more parents spoke in favor of Coach Lowrey than those that did not. Gee, I'm sorry your daughter sat on the bench during volleyball season. Seemed to me they had a pretty good team, two of the seniors have signed scholarships.

Bryan acutally has 2 public High Schools, Bryan High and Rudder High which opened last year. They also have 2 very large Christian High Schools both of which have won state football championships. College Station is building their 2nd High School. I played for Plano on back to back state championsip teams in and only 5 players recieved full rides out of those two teams. The rest of took half rides, walked on or went in the military. Sometimes its all about the system and that you play in.
