I witnessed a horrible accident on March 20th at the intersection on Sandy Lake and MacArthur Blvd. A woman on a moped stopped at a red light in front of me was hit and run over by a red pick up truck. If anyone knows who this women is and how she is doing, please comment. I can't stop thinking about what happened to her.

I also witnessed this same accident. I have not been able to sleep or stop thinking about her. I actually saw his back wheel roll over her head. Thankfully, she had on a helmet. I would also like to know how she is doing if anyone could please let us know.

Just some advice, but if I were you guys I would call the local Lewisville Emergency Room, and run it past them to see if you can get any info at all.... or City Police...

Hospitals follow the HIPPA law and cannot give out medical information on anyone but family.
I did call the Coppell Police Department and left a message for the detective in charge of this case, but have not received a call back. It was just a terrible thing to witness and such a senseless accident. I would just feel much better if I knew she was alive and doing better. |

I still have not heard anything. I have not received any more calls from the police or from lawyers. Still wondering how she is doing. |

I did talk to the Coppell Police Department about 2 weeks after the accident. They were able to say that it was not a fatal accident and they were able to contact her husband right after the accident so he could be with her. No arrest was made as the truck driver said he was just going to Kroger and hit her by accident. I really don't understand that and even went into detail how I saw the accident.

Scooters are not safe. Period. They're too small to see and too under-powered to get out of harm's way.
I've ridden motorcycles for more than 20 years from super bikes to cruisers and I would not get on a scooter for all the money in the world. I am sorry for this lady's misfortune, but it illustrates my point. The driver of the truck probably did not see her because her scooter was small. Typically scooters are smaller than the rider's silhouette. When she realized the truck was going to hit her, she did not have the acceleration to escape. Visibility -not helmets- saves lives. |

Judged:
1 The jackass in the truck wasn't paying attention to what was around him or in front of him. Likely he was yapping on a cell phone. I ride a scooter everyday when I don't use my truck. You have to keep yourself aware of what is around you and use your eyes. Same goes for peoplel that drive cars/trucks. Even someone in a huge truck is going to see me on my scooter if you know how to stay in their sight. Was it on coming traffic or did the driver run over her from behind? If he came up behind her and ran over her he certainly wasn't looking in front of him. |
