Electrical problems? Does this mean the tail lights were out? I wish the highway patrol would offer better descriptions. Why do they always offer obscure half truths?

Harleys, no name middle aged women, 1am in the morning, country road, maybe a beer? makes this seem alike a inevitable bad recipe.

My husband rides a HARLEY with me on the back behind him and our friends ride also. They do not drink and ride. All bikers do not drink while riding.Maybe "BEER" was not involved. It clearly states"ELECTRICAL PROBLEM" maybe the tail lights didn`t work?DUHHHHH!

Can I ask what does that matter? Not being a smart azz, but I lost my uncle in a bike wreck and he had a helmet on. His injuries were to his chest and lower.Internal injuries, the helmet didn`t help him.

according to state records, published in Sunday's Spartanburg Herald Journal, "96 of the 106 motorcyclists killed last year (in the state of SC) weren't wearing helmets.(and) According to federal statistics, the majority of such deaths are blamed on the failure to wear a helmet."

so, i was just wondering.

no doubt, the chances of surviving a motorcycle wreck are better if the riders are wearing helmets. sorry to hear about your uncle. and continued good luck to the survivors in this latest wreck and to their families.

Show me where they included the results of death from internal injuries. Show me where they included that the blunt force even with a helmet still caused the death. What they publish is only what they want you to see to make it look like helmets save lives. I will agree in some degree they will save a life here and there but they don't save as many as what people think. I t-boned a truck doing 40mph with no helmet and the only damage was to my body and not my head. I even left my body and head imprint in the drivers door. It should be a person's choice still whether to wear a helmet. Alot of people in car accidents have brain injuries, should we make everybody on the roadways were helmets?

Riding motorcycyles is dangerous. So is driving a car. the difference is that in a car I have the protection of steel all around my body and IF I am wearing a seatbelt, I am likely to stay inside the protection. I have been in a car accident and no seatbelt, and have a busted hip and scars to prove it, but the car took the brunt of the impact.
On a motorcycle, there is no protection. Its all body impact. Every chance of survival is not in the hands of the rider, but in the hands of God.

People lose their lives in accidents wearing seatbelts too. but we have to agree that many more are saved because of the restraint.

I cringe when I see riders without helmets, but I respect the right of choice. So please consider wearing a helmet, for your own safety, not a law.

May God continue blessing the families affected by this accident. May God be with all of us on the road.

A helmet also cuts down on your vision and hearing. I'd rather be able to hear and see what's around me than trade that away for a very small percentage of safty. After all, if I can see and hear what's going on around me I have a better chance of avoiding an accident. That's better odds than surviving one with a helmet.

Sorry, you usually make some good arguments but on this one you are wrong. Come and spend a week with me in the emergency room and talk to the ER doctors, they will tell you MOST die from head injuries and MOST WOULD have survived had they had their helmet on. I would be happy to show you the proof, buy you wouldn't ride your bike again if you saw what a saw ON A WEEK TO WEEK BASIS.

My prayers go out to the family.

I'm very ashamed to see the comments that were left on here. One of those men just happened to be my uncle. A very hard working and good hearted man. There was an electrical problem on the first mans bike a woman died and now so is my uncle. It was an unpreventable accident. My prayers go out to the families of the other riders.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Capricorn

You'll have difficulty finding equilibrium in your emotional life at the moment; try to control the impulsive side of your character. At work, your usual powers of intuition will be clouded. Fits of feverishness may bother you and break down your energy. If you can get out into the countryside for a walk, you'll feel much better.
