ok.. john huddleston is my grandfather. he is the best man in the world. yes is was wrong in what he did. but he also has other horses that don*t look near as bad as the white one that you keep showing on the tv. my uncle was there a few days before the cops found the horses. so i know that its not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. i love my grandfather. i know what he did is wrong but if they get him then there is about 500 people that the police need to get. i know for sure that he is a good guy. believe me or not...

I just can't understand why he did not ask someone for some help. Seems to me that he knew that he could not feed these animals. There are too many people that love animals (like he said he does) and would have been more than willing to give them a home. There is no reason at all that an animal should go hungry

If he really loved the animals he would have already found homes for them or asked for help without getting into trouble he's just covering hisself now. He should be put out in a field to be left to strave. It is not right that he's not even going to get a slap on the hand for this.

"Big John" Huddleston doesn't look like he's missed any meals. I don't buy his crying for the horses routine, either. Crying that he got caught starving these horses is more like it. If hay and feed was unavailable, every horse in TN would be starving. Responsible horse owners opened their wallets and paid to care for their animals. Obviously, Huddleston did not and watched them starve to death.
This was not the first time the authorities got a report about Huddleston's horses. Now they're giving him even more time to sell the horses and they may even drop the charges. Yeah, the "bad old boy" system at work again.

YOU KNOW , SOME TIMES WE ASK FOR HELP FROM THE PEOPLE WE KNOW , THEY CANT HELP , SO THE OTHER HELP COMES FROM OUTSIDERS , SO THAT BEING SAID , ITS COST TO HAVE OUT SIDE HELP , AND IF THE MAN CANT FEED HIS HORSES BECAUSE OF HAY AND MONEY TROUBLE HE ,SURE CANT PAY FOR OUT SIDE HELP, SO IF YOU GUYS ARE SO OUT TO JUDGE , WHY DONT YOU HELP HIM AND , SEND HIM SOME MONEY OR HELP WITH THE FEED , AND HELP THE MAN , AND NOT HURT HIM . I THINK THATS WHATS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY , PEOPLE IS SO OUT TO JUDGE EVRYBODY , WITH OUT ASKING YOURSELF , HAVE I DONE EVERTHING I COULD , TO MAYBE , HELP?????????

Bravo Freddy! The only person, aside from the granddaughter, that really put it all into perspective. What did Jesus say,,,,oh yeah,, "Judge not your neighbor, lest for the log in your own eye". Helping each other goes a lot farther than juding a person....

If he really "loved" the horses, he would have FED them. Its part of OWNING an animal - you have to PROVIDE FOOD. If you cannot provide something like this (I'll bet you $100 those horses haven't seen a farrier or a vet in years de-wormed!), you need to get rid of the animal.

I can't believe this is going unpunished he still commented a crime. Why didn't he find homes sooner, instead of now. You know people all over the world has gotten rid of animals and children that they love because they couldn't feed them and take care of them.

It is all great not to judge someone about their actions, yet if you don't know that he needs help then how can we help? You might not need to judge but we do need to hold people accountable for their actions when it involves other living beings lives. Those animals were dependent on him, no one else. If he knew that he couldn't get food for them animals then he could of done something else for them. At least he is working with the law enforcement and helping the animals now. I pray and hope everthing works out for him and those animals find a home where their health can improve.

I feel that he should be prosecuted for this. he sould have found homes for the horses as soon as he felt he couldn't afford to feed them. There is no excuse for this kind of thing to happen.

I am furious over this! Ask for help! Give them away! Don't place them in a pile after they die! And they may drop the charges? Are they insane! Horse lover my a$$! You don't watch anything you love starve to death! There are many rescue organizations throughout TN to help rescue, adopt, and place horses just like this. But they can't help you if you don't ask. Everyone will stick thier nose in your business when you allow helpless animals to starve to death! Guaranteed! They can't speak up for themselves so we will!

Freddy, Yea dude, we ARE showing compassion - to the horses - who were STARVING. It was reported because it is ABUSE. When people COMMIT CRIMES and ABUSE ANIMALS - it IS newsworthy.

No excuse for this. If you can't care for your animals you don;t need them. Yes, I agree grass and hay supplies are short, but they still sell bagged feed everyday at the local feed store. this is just down right sorryness.

This man should never be allowed to own any animal the rest of his life. With all the help offered to persons in need, he has no excuse to wait until facing charges to ask for help or offer to give them to someone who is willing and able to care for them. Thankfully it wasn't his children in need of food!

Andrea if you saw the horses starving and you're old enough to type and use a computer, you're just as guilty as your Grandfather in letting this happen.
It sounds like you were quite capable of locating resources or even placing an ad to help relocate these poor starving animals. But you let your Grandfather deal with this tragedy until he faced criminal charges? Shame on you.
