Cookeville Fitness Center is owned by Steve and Linda Stephens and has been in business for 13 yrs. The building and business are NOT for sale. If anyone is seeing a listing, it must be from years ago, I would like to know where,it is listed. We own the building and have since 2001. C.F.C.is family owned and operated. The gym is 15 thousand square ft, two levels. Upstairs is the cardio room, three tanning beds and a 6000+ sg ft ladies only workout area. We are $14.95 per month, 24/7 and NO CONTRACT. Please feel free to stop in for a free tour and trial workout if you are seeking a good clean honest fitness center.

I asked a lawyer friend yesterday while out at the country club, and he says they're trying to sale the place to avert bankruptcy. Good luck to all of you who have faith in a dying business model.

Looks to me like someone is trying to promote RM by trying scare tactics. Is RM seriously that hard up for members that it would stoop to that level??

Tell your country club friend CFC is alive and well. No bankruptcy here. Why would a thriving business want to bankrupt? Your right, Running Man, must be scare tactics. Let me remind you all again that you are no longer able to hide behind your keyboard. Topix must give me your IP address if you are making slanderous remarks and it is then a liable offense. So be careful what you put in print.

No Manchidiot, I'm not spreading knowingly false information. As you can clearly see from my posts, I specifically state that, I'm "not sure" and have only heard speculation.

If you keep spreading this information, you are NOW knowingly spreading false information. You have been told by the owners and now me,that it is untrue.

A business is reflected by the employees whom the manager, in this case the owner, have hired to represent the the business publicly. I believe the article speaks for itself... http://community.drphil.com/boards/...

Just to let all the personal trainers, body builders, trainees, or just blow hards CFC used to be a great gym when we had joey as the trainer and run the place for steve and linda that place was popping a fun place to workout and socialize now its just gone down hill she hired 2 other guys to take over a one mans job she hired a younger good looking guy don't really know him only seen him in mid day but haven't seen him in the past few weeks which i've been coming in a little later and i've been seeing a middle aged guy down there never really talked to either one of them but both look like pretty good people both always smiling and cutting up with everyone but CFC needs new equipment, tanning beds, and a remodel that matches 2011 not 1987 for the other gyms raquet master sucks old junky smells bad and shitty equipment National fitness center which is now Absolute fitness center is the cleanest, nicest, and most family enviroment place to go i recomend it highly ymca is way to packed period! and cant wait for this new place to come to town it is gonna put a hurting on the lil locally owned crappy gyms its gonna be all new so there is the low down on gyms in cookeville tn

Well I have been a member there for a short time now. And I have read some of these comments about the equipment and the place being trashed out etc... The owner is trying to fix the place up to better standards in my opinion. There have been some good changes taking place there. New tile, new carpet, new paint, the place feels cleaner. IDK. Some of those comments were down right mean. I also read about "Joey" who I never met but after seeing his appearance on Dr. Phil, that was really bad PR for CFC as a whole. The folks are nice enough to me, helpful. The price is good and I have good access. I think folks should lighten up a little on the owners and cut em a break. All the staff has treated me with respect. and that goes far with me.

I used to go to the CFC all the time and loved it, I know now it is 14.95 a month with no contract but do you still have to pay the 100 dollars down and that includes first month? I know they did a special at the first of the year 3 months for 100 dollars. Can anyone help me that knows this information? Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what should I do. cancel it then, and go pay the new gym price next to wal-mart which is 3x more expensive. I mean, 15,000 square feet of moving space compared to their small gym and it's always crowded plus the price, seems like a "no brainer" to me.CFC is coming up. I have a feeling a few more improvements are on the way also. When I look at the trophies and pics of STRONG MAN COMPETITIONS and see the sense of pride they have plastered all over the walls downstairs, it motivates me to want to look and feel better. I may to swipe that card a few extra times but I'll eventually get in. 3 sets of 15 reps sounds great. I'll just work these arms til they get in shape.(ha)
