Ok, so you've all bitched and moaned about all manner of things happening in Dogwood Park. Here is my turn to rant.

Parents, watch your freaking kids! Don't pile up on a quilt with your significant other and make out, don't read a book, don't text and surf the web......WATCH YOUR KIDS!

I like to use the park in the late afternoon, and I don't want to have to watch your kids for you. I caught one mom gone to her car, and a little toddler just wandering around down in the park alone.

The kids on their bikes are going to run over someone, and someone will get hurt. They run in the fountain, which is dangerous because the area is slick.

Watch your kids. Just because they are outside does not mean that they can just run wild like animals. There are other people who want to enjoy the park too. It wasn't built as a playground for your kids, neither is it an alternative "free" swimming place. Good grief.

To those of you parents who actually make your children behave, I thank you, and I'm sure many other park users who are childless thank you as well. Nothing sweeter that a little group of kids playing nicely together with adult supervision. Some of these wild heathens need to be tethered.

Not exclusively as a place where parents can take their kids and not watch them, if that's where you are headed. It is a public park for all the public to use. Nothing anywhere says it is a free for all place for a bunch of lazy people to let their kids run wild and unsupervised. Others like to enjoy the park too, you know, without fear of being trampled by a herd of children not being watched.

Not at all silly. I'm not afraid of it, I just detest it when parents allow their children to do such things as run over people because they are unsupervised.

How tiny of a person are you that a little kid can run over you.If you are a "Little Person"(midget)then I appologize. And to let you know I am a devout opponent of midget tossing.

the person is elderly or has some sort of handicap. kids can stomp toes and such as that easily and them that are on bikes can hurt a healthy grownup if they hit them

Yes I completely agree.Handicapped elderly midgets are at greater risk of injury.Their bones in their tiny little toes are more brittle than younger midgets.Parents do have the duty to make their kids avoid stomping midget's toes at all costs, young and old.Oh, has there been a rash of healthy grownups being mowed down by a gang of Huffys there?Wouldn't know myself.Never been there.

I was out there today with kids and a boy around 10 or 11 actually took my daughter's frisbee and refused to give it back. There were no parent's around and he refused to give it back to me so I snatched it out of his hands, he then went on to take a bottle away from a younger boy.

Parent's need to watch their kids and not just let them run over the smaller ones - it is completely unacceptable!

You miss the point or are you one of the parents who let their kids run unsupervised? Quit being a smart*zz . Maybe when you go there a kid will take his razor right over your toes - and remember to laugh about it okay?

My family and I recently moved to the Cookeville area and love it very much here. What I would like to do is share my one time experience at Dogwood Park. One Saturday afternoon we dropped the kids of at the Highland 12 to see a movie, our oldest,Olive, is 14 so she supervised, and we decided to go to this new park to relax and soak in the ambiance. What we experienced was this.A group of six to seven year old boys wearing Phineas and Ferb garb and wearing Slinkies on their wrists(which we learned later on were gang symbols) approached us and held us up with something called beyblades and stole all of our money and cell phones then they skipped off.We had no way to call the police so we went back to our car.To our dismay, our car was gone!We walked to the Cookeville Police Dept. to report it stolen. When we arrived the policeman at the window told us that they had recovered our car.It seems than a Pre-K student from London Bridge Daycare had hotwired our car and used it in a liquor store robbery attempt and was apprehended. We love Cookeville so much and all of the people are so nice but we will never go back to Dogwood Park and advise others to do the same.Sicerely,Ollie Vansvuet.

Who is that little Mexican kid that pinches all the loafs down there in the grass? There's enough dog poo there already let alone human feces.
