I'm originally from Florida, used to live in Cookeville and now live in Knoxville. I'm in the process of moving back to Cookeville and can't wait. I hate Knoxville. Cookeville is a nice small town with super friendly people and really good schools. It has lots of good restaurants, shopping, and things my family likes such as children's theater, the symphony, lots of parks. Don't let the rubes here at topix turn you off. Cookeville is one of the nicest towns around, certainly one of the best in Tennessee. And I like that it's only an hour from the Nashville airport for when my family goes on vacation out west.

Cookeville is a very nice place especially if you are an educated professional. Even though you see a lot of poor people, my experience has been that other people treat them badly. One of the reasons for this is that we are not big enough to have major stores and restaurants in different parts of town so that everyone is thrown together i.e. one Walmart, one Sears, etc. The upshot is that if you have money is it is a good place. I guess that is true everywhere.

Seriously, this is a great place to live. The main disadvantage is that you will look long and hard to find a bigger cluster of gossips who seriously enjoy spreading bad stuff about everyone they know, and seem to take intense pleasure from it. They will be real nice to you and be quite friendly, on the outside, but as soon as they get the chance they'll be talking about you behind your back. And it's not just poor people who badmouth everyone. One of the wealthiest families in town is guilty of this.

Another problem is the large number of people who attend certain churches who think they're the only ones who're going to heaven and MAN do they have an attitude about it, and often are the biggest hypocrites ever. There are many thousands who attend other churches and are great Christian people, but I wanted to warn you about the rest.

Run the other way... I've lived here since I was 4 years old... Sure it USED to be a great small town till we had a bunch of uneducated retards vote in idiots to take over this town and ruin it. Also it’s been put on the map multiple of times thanks to our finest... They've shown to be one of the most corrupt police forces in Middle TN “operation tarnished shield” etc al...

Many more other scandals and even the voted officials f#ck us in the ass (UCDD / UCHRA etc.) but of course you won't find this info anywhere else as everyone likes to look the other way and pretend this town is so great and wonderful but really the lack of good jobs doesn't help at all even though they've managed to keep afloat themselves by keeping the food service and health industry rollin’ on and on since yeah we got quite plenty obese fat f#cks with health issues coming up to them thanks to the quite handful of restaurants we have in this town. Yes everyone keep on reading the HC and pretend everything is soooooo wonderful they don’t call it Cookeville for no reason it’s the damn meth cooking capital of middle TN get your f#cking heads out of your asses and stop smelling the roses!!!! But hey if you got money yeah you'll be fine and settle here just fine and grand!!! Or have a passion for healthcare and restaurant jobs then yeah c’mon on into town, you will love it they offer great livin’ check to check packages!

Seriously this place is a DUMP. These people with “Cookeville” Pride just don’t really have a friggin’ clue as they’re either blind and uneducated or just are outright making a livin’ here in either one of these industries and don’t mind putting up with the tons of drunks and druggies, as well the daily fraud bust from their elected officials and still vote them right back into their seats even though their reports from the state audit division on their past performance shows that they plain don’t give 2 sh#ts about doing their job RIGHT but hey they’re officials and we love to vote them back into office to repeat the same mistakes!!! We HATE CHANGE RIGHT??!!!

Oh yeah also it takes a act of congress to remove a abusive teacher that's tentured..Even tho theres even more than enough proof they are abusing kids... Still a couple of them around also there's been quite a plently of teachers convicted for molesting and havin' sexual affairs with students... Hows that for the school system... Yes what a wonderful f#cking redneck board of education we got here!!! Yes Cookeville is brillant... SMH you guys are fu#king retarded!

Cookevlle is a quaint little city. Yes, we have our problems like all other towns and cities, but we also have our bright assets. Our schools are above average for Tn. Our hospital (CRMC) offers many great services. We have many eating establishments and stores. We have several parks and places for children to enjoy organized sports. We have a great university TTU. We have city and county services which are usually very good and do their jobs well. We have affordable housing for most income levels. I have lived here for the past 15 years and I am very happy with my decision to move here.
