Full story: Herald-Citizen

It's a resolution that's recently received mixed reviews but has been approved by the Putnam County Commission and the Cookeville City Council this week.

This was the most under reported county commission meeting I have ever gone to. They started out trying to fire Johnny Stites for telling them it was going to cost more than they were prepared to pay for the jail upgrade. There was a pretty good discussion of a wheel tax and a good idea to let the voters decide the conditions under which the wheel tax could be approved. For instance only if it went to a certain purpose like debt service. It looked like to me that the commission wanted nothing to do with any type of taxpayer control over the wheel tax. They spent a lot of time giving emotional testimonies about how the folks at Poplar Grove were suffering through the problems of not having a reliable water system. The Poplar Grove utility district went broke, as I heard it elsewhere. They barely passed the Bennett road extension fiasco and then lurched into a deal where the city and the county went partners on building a horse barn out at Tennessee Tech. They had to have the deal that night because it would help them get even more money at the state level the next day if they could say that Putnam County and the city would already sign off on $400,000 of the cost. The one commissioner who wanted to send the request through the regular evaluation process was voted down. It is too bad we don't have a real newspaper in Cookeville that will tell people what is going on.

This whole thing is ridiculous. The people should be up in arms about this fraudulent, seedy dealing.

"We're looking for input. This is a community effort -- city, county and citizens ... this is something that we want to make sure is done correctly and done with county involvement and done with citizen's input."

Something tells me they don't actually want our input because we'll tell them something they don't like: NO annex, NO fifth interchange, NO connector road project, NO industrial park, and NO stealing of people's land for an of the aforementioned reason! Period!

There were stories in the newspaper about the county commission meeting. I read a story about the wheel tax, the road resolution and the water thing.... This story is about the city council... Totally different from the county commission.

There's another thread on here about the county commission talking about the road... If you look at headle-citizen.com right now the center story is about water in Poplar Grove. The information is out there if you're really wanting to know about it.

I've posted numerous threads on this "Agenda 21". Not many people were interested or else just don't realize what's taking place. Go to this website & scroll down to United States. They are listed by cities. Cookeville along with several other cities in Tennessee are members. This really needs to be repealed.

34 Republicans are against this "Agenda 21", which will take your property & will be controlled by the government. Here is a short video that was on Channel 5 news a few weeks ago. Take time to watch it, only lasts 3 minutes.
