Can't help you with Overton County sheriff, they're digital now. I know a few frequencies.

Livingston City Police...155.580
Overton county Fire...154.430
Putnam County Sheriff...155.655

I also have Clay County Sheriff and Fire, as well as Picket County Sheriff in TN. I have Clinton and Cumberland Co. KY, too.

The two sites listed by the other posters are good, too. You can get good info there.

Yes you are correct. In 2012 ( unknown date) The FCC has mandated that the VHF band public service will be going to NARROW BAND. All of your current scanners today are wide band only. Now if you by a new scanner today it must say NARROW BAND compat or will except digital fregs. If it does not say this then your scanner will still work but when these counties make the final reprogram on their main systems in 2011 unless you have a new narrow band scanner the WE ALL ARE OUT OF LUCK....

Have enjoyed hearing what happens in and around Cookeville but not located a list of Police 10 Codes that lines up with what is in actual use here.

Seems there are regional variations of the 10 codes based on what I see after looking through Google and Radioreference.com

Does anyone know of a list describing the codes used in Cookeville? Specifically the codes I have had trouble matching up so far are listed below. When used on air they were NOT referring to the official meaning

10-12 ?
10-28 ?
10-29 ?
10-30 ?
10-65 Attempted Rape
10-72 Riot
10-85 Disturbance

Signal 20 (auto wreck? how is this different from 10-45?)

Here are some that City of Cookeville uses:

10-12 Rare, not sure
10-28 Run vehicle registration for me
10-29 Check wants/warrants
10-30 Unsure
10-85 Normally means a domestic disturbance

Just think of it this way -- if you get drunk, you're a 10-58. If you get behind the wheel and drive, now you're a 10-49. If you wreck, that's a 10-45. If someone's hurt, it's a 10-46. That would require that someone call a 10-47 to take you to the hospital. A 10-48 would also be called to tow in your smashed car. If you ask the cop to give you a break, he will reply 10-50 (meaning NO). He will then go 10-15 (transporting a prisoner to the Justice Center). If he didn't hear you clearly, he'll say you're 10-1 (unreadable), 10-9? That means repeat your transmission. If your car broke down then it's a signal 20. If they say code 10, that means switch to scrambled mode (seldom used -- it has lots of problems). Signal 3 means to switch to channel 2 (seldom used these days; rather, they prefer 3 or 4). If they're done with the call they go 10-8 (back in service). When they eat they request permission to go 10-10. An escort is a 10-14. Your location is your 10-20 or simply 20. If he's pulling you over, he is going 10-6 on your vehicle (Sheriff's deputies say 10-81). Agreeing or acknowledging your transmission will result in 10-4. If your transmission is 10-2 that means you are understandable. If he's going off duty, or a person is dead, he is 10-7. If he responds to a call with emergency equipment on (strobes, siren), then he is running 10-33. Otherwise, 10-30 (non-emergency).

That's a few that I've picked up over the years to get you started.

When the state makes the local counties go DIGITAL all the way, what type of scanner do we need to get so we can continue to listen. Type meaning BRAND,, MODEL, WHAT IS COMPATIBLE HERE IN PUTNAM COUNTY AND SURROUNDING, not just some smart butt answer ( like one that does digital dummy) I would like to purchase a scanner that i could program straight from my computer to monitor all the surrounding counties.
