Finally this area will have a regional fair every year like many other places in Tennessee. One of the largest carnivals in the country will be here the second week of July at the new regional fairgrounds , just north of Algood at the 111 Flea market area.

Sorry but if you respond to a comment with the phrase "Jesus Freaking Christ" you are a redneck.

Also people need to learn the difference between a Carnival & a fair. The one coming is a carnival, NOT a fair. The flea mkt people may be selling it as a fair but it is not.

Actually , the area next to the Flea Market will be holding the 1st Annual Upper Cumberland State Fair.
While its true one of the largest traveling carnivals in the Unites States will be stopping here on that date, it takes time for community and corporate sponsorship to participate and join in.
This wasnt an undertaking of Putnam County Government.
I see no reason why this area cant have a regional state fair.
Upper East Tennessee has one, Knoxville has one, Memphis has one and the State Fair of Tennessee in Nashville seems to be on its last leg there.
Support the new regional state fair instead of bashing it.
It has to start somewhere .
The carnival will be the largest thats ever visited the Upper Cumberlands and thats a good start because they have expressed interest in being the centerpiece for the 1st Annual Upper Cumberland Regional Fair and would like to be the amusement entertainment in the years to come.

"Regional state fair" is an oxymoron moron. Either its a state fair or a regional fair--cant be both. I hope you don't think some mess set up at a dying flea market is worthy of being called a "state" any thing.

Someone at the 111 Flea Market is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. You can bet your bottom dollar that when the "Regional Fair" arrives, It's going to be something pretty lame, kinda like the carnival they had set up at the mall a couple time.

the carnivala and the flea markey\t and the farmers market all need to move into the same area and the cother flea market as we do not need this mess in our neighborhoods as it effects business and community growth as this only brings in more people to this area with insrupulous ideas which raises our crime rate and lowers our property values as i moved here several years ago i have seen my crimer ates go up as my property values go down and there are more farmers markets and more flea markets and they still have that fair in place and a stokc barn with animals in the middle of cookeville which is the hub of this upper cumberland area thus making it the city center if they want to have this kind of stuff it needs to be in jamestown or birdstown or even livingston or rickman to keep this type of crime and loitering in their area and out of the hub of the upper cumberland area as we have enough on our plate with out catering to the scum bags of the world this is also the educational centerpiece of this area with the tennnessee tech campus located in this city and how will it look to potential students student familys of students and qualified teachers and business which wants to hire new students and keep them in this area without them being pulled away from this city to another city because of their skillset we need to keep all thsee people here when they graduate to raise our gnp and to become modernized but this cannot and will not happen as long as the up[pgercumplberd hub is infected with this activity and continues to have the dfair and the farmer markets and all the flea markets

Some people believe that people should be allowed to do whatever they want with their personal property---unless it's something they don't agree with---then it is an infringement on other peoples rights. Some people like the convenience of local liquor stores, some people like restaurants like Olive Garden and Cheddars, some people like Walmart and some people like flea markets(as well as fairs, farmers markets and truck pulls). Not everybody likes everything so do what you want and deal with it. I can't wait till school starts back and these little 8th graders who are posting on topix starts back.

Just something else to take money out of this area.......do away with all the fairs....the carnival prays on the poor people that can't afford to go anyway and the other people that can afford stays at home....

they shoul d not be allowed to have a fair or a flea market or a carnival or a farmers markey in the area know as the hub of the uppercumberland being a regional hub means being the center of business for all of the surrounding areas and this means growing the area with worth while choisces of business and does not involce increases in crime and loitering and other vagrances that a carnival brings to the area if they arte going to hacve a fair then they need to have it in an area of the uppercumberland which is not crucial for business and is only created for resisdence where people drive to work everyday to the hub and then drive back thus elimianating the need for commercial establishments so this carnival or flea market or stock barn or farmers co op would then be ok to have but the current way it is is not familiar for the businesses in the area as they are trying to recruit more businesses to move in and grow the hub of the upper cumberland to new sizes with tennessee tech in existance it is very important that the business plan be focused on each and every one of these young men and women who graduate tenneessee tech need to stay in cookeville to boost the economy and and gnp tennessee tech graduates almost 10 thousand students a semester so if you add it up that is 20 thousands of people who graduate each year in cookeville if we had jobs so each and everyone one of these young people wouls stay in cookeville then cookkeville could expand its population increase by 20 thousand per yer instead of the few that it does now but no one thinks about the long term because this would me twenty thousand new people this year and then next year and then these people would have familys and the cookeville city could be the size of knxville birmingham louisville chattanooga or lexington in just a few years time frame you will notice that i did not include nashville or charlotte because if you study the census you will understand that what i have been saying is what they have know for a while as you see i did not come up with this but rather read about it as other cities like nashville and charlotte have know about it for a while they have both been grauatiung large numbers of students and when these studaents graduate they are not leaving for the excitment of big cities like chicago or st louis or kansas city no they are staying home where there graduate and growing their cities from within so that nashville will be be like a chicago real soon andcharlotte will be like boston before long cookeville may not be able to be as big as these places becaise of the current highway systems but that does not mean they can not be the size of knoxville or chattanooge or litte rock because they are graduating 20 thousnad a year and that is as many as ut knoxville and more that mtsu and more that auburn and vanderbilt and many more of the local schools that have a lot larger number of people to choost from

If those other towns are so much better then why don't you haul your ass out of here? I'm tired of you whiny ass people bitching and moaning CONSTANTLY. What exactly have you done to improve our local economy? At least the fair, the farmer's market, the stockyard, and the flea market generate revenue. You sitting on your ass crying on Topix because Cookeville isn't Nashville (really though, why the hell would we WANT to be like that cesspool of evolutionary waste?) isn't producing a damn thing. For the record, I don't want our population to expand by 20fuckingthousand per year and I'm far from the only one, dipshit.

Please explain how a university with a student body of approximately 11,000 churns out 10,000 graduates every semester. You have also forgotten the fact that probably half of TTU's students don't live in Cookeville. Some don't even set foot in this county because they're enrolled through RODP.

i dont know whay you think having a huge population is a good thing. crime and poverty almost always rises as population increases. there's a reason i moved here from los angeles and it wasnt so i could sit back and watch as this town grew into another metropolis. if it comes to that, ill leave and take my mba with me.

sorry about the typing im on my phone,.

Good question....the total enrollment is less than 11,000. To have that many graduates a year there woulkd need a much larger student population.
