Why would any city join in the County Planning Department when you can get the same service from UCDD, who has had planners on staff for decades. The county will have to hire a complete unfamiliar staff.

Beware of the upper cumberland development district this place is a family affair, the executive director has her family working there, her dad, sister, daughter and her daughters boyfriend, her sisters in-laws, her mom worked there, she also has members of the same family.

she spends alot of money on vechile for some of her staff members which includes a gas card, these employees that have the vehicles use them for personal use such as vacation, picking up there children from school, etc. she also recently remodeled a house that is now an independant living called "Living the Dream" which is her dream house, she moved out of her own house to living at Living the Dream. Someone needs to audit her and just see for themselves that she is wasting tax payers money, which she uses to benefit her own life style.

I have direct family ties to our state representative and I don't get special treatment. I've heard more negative than good from all of the UCDD. The fact the no one there has a college education and I personally know people that have turned in applications with college degrees and more job experience and they get passed over...I now see why.

I totally agree with you about the college degrees if i had to guess the executive and her deputy director has no college degree.

and also, the county executives daughter work there. how will "Living the Dream" benefit the taxpayers in anyway. only a few people benefit only the people that the county executives from each county remends.

From what I have read, "Living the Dream" is a privately owned (by Wendy Askins) assisted living facility. She leases the rooms, at a expensive price, to elderly couples that wish to live in an luxury house without the up keep. You would have to have a lot of money to live there.(Wish I had thought of it.) I understand that Ms. Askins brought the property from a foreclouse sale. Just what I heard....

I am very familiar with who and what you people are gossiping about. Living the Dream I know for a fact is for poor people who cannot afford assisted living and ucdd believes that older people should never be prematurely institutionalized. I am moving my mother in upon completion and she will be paying 1,200.00 per month oppossed to 4-5 thousand and receiving the same services. I also know for a fact that Ms. Askins has put her heart and soul and money into this project. I am sorry if you people are disgruntled about something but I cannot believe people like you are heartless. Proud there are people who truly care. Sounds like you people need to be on your knees. Not sure about family and friends and education, however, if UCDD staff is as brilliant as Ms. Askins I dont care and why do you?

just to let you know: You are mistaken about the project and the person you are bashing. I have known her for 25 years. The cost is $1,200.00 per month and She is a licensed Administrator. Independent Living may very well be Assisted Living. Sounds to good to be true. Well That is what Wendy Askins is all about. Has always remained on the high road even under brutal attacks. Don't worry no tax payers money in Living The Dream.( I researched It.) Did you? You obviously do not know very much about Wendy Askins. She is a very successful and classy business woman who took UCDD from almost bankrupt and with the help of a wonderful and bright team turned it into a very successful agency. Do you not read the newspaper? Also Ms. Askins is married to a very successful businessman. Wendy Askins has probably helped more people in the upper than anyone I know. How many people have you helped in your lifetime? Stop being jealous it will eat you alive.

I agree with all you have said, however, I just can't be as nice as you are. The click bashing UCDD are truly a bunch of uneducated idiots. I have been to the UCDD office and there is nothing but the most professional group of people I have ever been around. If not for Wendy Askins and her group I would be homeless. I thank God everyday for people like them who care. Attacking peoples credibility and character will come back to bite you big time on the ASS. Sounds like you people need to find something to do. Maybe get a Job? Taxpayers are probably taking care of you. No need to respond I wont be reading nor responding to anymore of your trash. Just want UCDD to know how much I love and appreciate all of you.

I know a young lady who works there and you are correct very immoral and a waste of money. Living the Dream maybe personally owned but I know that UCDD employees had to go to the home during work hours and paint and remodel the home before Wendy and her daughter moved in. That is taxpayer dollars. You can only get a job there if you know the right person or go to church with someone in the family. All the fam already employed! Who would want to work there if you have to suck up to the boss to keep your job. Including "entertaining" county officials

To all you know it alls: Ms. Askins is using most of her own furniture bought and paid for by her several years ago. Go see for yourself. Ms. Askins out of her own money did buy some furniture from a little elderly woman who was going blind so she could have surgery. Thank god she can see today because of this act of kindness. I also know that Ms. Askins has worked every night for a year doing all the remodeling. Volunteers did help paint but not on government time. For you to think you know so much "you realky know nothing" Times have changed maybe you have been involved in that entertaining stuff but it does not happen at UCDD. The statement about immorality thats a huge accusation to make "just in case you get caught" I recommend the few of you that are negatives stick with the facts. Stop trying to harm innocent people.

Hey Glad you mentioned the furniture. Wendy was at the flea market all the time late last year looking for economical but classy dishes. She said over and over that people without a lot of money deserve a quality, beautiful place to live when they can't live at home anymore. How pathetic of someone to attack a group of such good people who honestly are trying to make a difference. After reading all the negative post it appears someone abviously got FIRED. Sounds like an inside job and you will probably be found out so if you are still working shame on you and you probably won't be for long.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Virgo

It's a rather low-key day with a few disappointments to cope with along the way. If you were looking forward to a social event, such as meeting up with friends, it may fail to live up to your expectations. It might even be delayed or postponed through no fault of your own. There could also be problems about how much something is going to cost, forcing you to scale down your plans to make them more affordable.
