We elected him to represent us in the legislature -- not to pull shenanigans to stymie the will of the people. That's what going on the lam to Oklahoma was. Any respect I had for him vanished when he pulled that juvenile stunt.
The republican party was trying to redistrict the state in order to lock down control, to gain more votes in areas where its a close call on republican and democrat, so they could gain a unfair advantage on all up coming elections. They basically left for Oklahoma so they couldnt be forced to vote for something as crazy as this. They had balls to do what they did, and I probably would have done the same thing. It was very shadey what the republicans did and I cant believe it didnt get more coverage, because it was a very sneaky and really wrong thing to do. I am sure both parties do it in other states. Its wrong on both of them, but I dont see how anyone could bash the man for doing what he thought was right. Unless you are just soo pro-republican that you raise hell at anything the other party does reguardless of what it is.

He should have voted his conscience. That's what he's there for. You should see that unless you are just SOOOOO pro-Democrat that you raise heck at anything the other party does "reguardless" of what it is.

You dont understand why the ran do you? Please research this so you understand it. I do not like debating people that have no clue to what they are talking about. After you know why they had to do this, maybe then we can talk. And when i say research I dont mean asking your friend their opinion I mean you read about it and then come up with your own opinion. From what you wrote I can tell you just have enough information about it to make yourself look bad.

I agree with Madame X and Republican. This is must to do about nothing. Politics as usual.

I haven't voted for Mark since he went to OK.
I do remember why I didn't vote for him in the last 2 elections. How would any government run if all members would avoid any vote by leaving? I see cities and counties following suit and breaking quorums to prevent a vote. We elect representatives to vote, not to run. It takes more courage to fight a battle against the odds then to run from the fight. JMO

I remember why they left and believe I posted that. At that time I neither liked or disliked Homer. It was after that that I did begin to dislike and distrust him. As it's just been stated here, he was elected to conduct the business of his constituents, not his parties'.
He has done favors for people and that makes him appealable to them. Remember the hunting change that he got changed for a dermotologist here for him and his sons? People with money and influence get the perks and favors granted. I've got about 2 things I'd like tended to, but don't really feel it'd do any good since I have no money or clout.

You are the one that needs to do research. A US census is taken every 10 years. After each census redistricting can take place if the census figures show a need based on changes in ethnic population within voting districts. This is a law and not something the Republicans dreamed up to set themselves up to get more votes.

I know why they ran -- to forestall a legitimate vote. What they did was unethical. There were a lot of people besides me who lost respect for him when he was too scared to stand his ground in Texas and hightailed it to Oklahoma. And if you're the one who complained about him leaving you with the kids and then had to backtrack on it, your posts are understandable.

I read it - it was on the front page and it was a bunch of crap and a waste of time. Just like Homer. I am no Homer fan, but it does not appear that these "violations" amount to anything at all serious. Big deal. There is plenty to criticize Homer about, but none of this penny-ante stuff is it.
...and the ticket I got for speeding was no big deal either. After all there are much worse crimes out there right? I didn't hurt anybody so what's the harm. Just broke one little bitty law, right?...and the guy who steals a purse says "what's the big deal, just one old lady" and the guys who gets caught with crack says "hey it wasn't heroin"...and Ted Kennedy said..."just one stupid nobody in that car, I didn't commit serial murder after all".

The law is the law and no one is above it, including a "lawmaker", even if it was just a little bitty crime.

So what Homer did was equal to murder? Ok your reasoning is only political. If you dont believe me you can re-read what you wrote and you will see the ignorance.

Nowhere did I say what he did equated to murder. Perhaps you need to reread what I wrote. Of course all wrong doers love to practice a little rationalization and justification as I did write. If you don't get it now, then just enjoy you blissful state.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Sagittarius

People around you may be insistent in their demands and they seem unreasonable, which in turn will lead to mental tension for you. There is the danger that this will dull your resolve, but the real path still lies ahead, beyond these temporary hurdles. Don't take this as a setback: there's no need to change your course of action.
