I am curious to know also. I hope it was my friend Kayla! If not it's okay. But I can name a few that I hope it wasn't! Wasn't there a girl that was fair queen last year that ran again this yr? If so, I don't think that is very fair when it comes to everyone else having their chances.

Based on the photos in the N-Ex, I thought Emily O'Rourke was the prettiest candidate, but we all know the contest isn't based solely upon looks.
At least it shouldn't be.

But in my opinion Miss O'Rourke is a very beautiful young lady.

curious - I don't know if a contestant was a repeat performer from last year but I'd say with only 14 girls in the contest, there was room for many more entries if any gals wanted to give it a shot.

Unless there is a 14-contestant limit, which I doubt.
I remember when 20-some young women, maybe even 30, sought the coveted crown and subsequent appearance at the state fair.
To people in my age range, that's like a different lifetime ago.

I think it's accurate to say the number of contestants has dwindled somewhat significantly over the years.

Thank you Love-and-Hate. I know several of the girls that were in the contest and their parents. I find it interesting that the one's that I had thought would win didn't. I was there tonight and can tell you that the judges were from Indianapolis and from their bio's were well educated and this wasn't their first time at this sort of thing. The girls did a good job. From what I've been told by a few of the girls the earlier interviews with the judges this afternoon were all very spontaneous questions. They weren't based on anything that the girls had been told previously or had prior knowledge of. Apparently some did better than others. If you read the bio's in the paper, most of those girls were very busy in school with academics and sports. Good for them.

no crap. i guess their parents couldnt pay them enough to have lil rockwell win, so they atleast had to make her first loser!(: no really tho, i just cant stand her or her family. soooo. and dont get me wrong alot of them girls are intelligent and are going to do very big things with their lives, but as far as emily being the prettiest? you must not have seen her in real life. she isnt that pretty. promise ya that. there were so many others that were. pics do alot for a girl

Well, you sorta got it about my compliment to O'Rouke about how pretty I think she is.

When I wrote what I did about her I clearly stated that I was basing that opinion on photos in the N-Ex., not from seeing her in "real life."
As pretty as she looks in photos, I can't imagine there's a big difference in pics and "real life."

Let me ask: Were you eligible to be in the contest? If yes, why weren't you?

With knowing Miss Rockwell as I do, you could not find a more sweeter girl than her. I am tired of you guys being so hard on girls for who their parents are. I mean like April and Mandy McDivitt. It is not their fault how their father reacts to certain things. Think about how the girls feel when they actually do something good, but everyone else looks down on them for who their dad is. Its obsured! I don't care if Caitlyn's dad is on the police force. There should never be a thought of her dad paying for her to win. She could easily win any contest on her own. They are young children trying to earn something for themselves, give them a chance for once without having to blast them with negative things that they can't control.

all this talk about these girls is making me sick. Most of you that are talking about them have probably met them once or never at all. You can't expect High School girls to be perfect "beauty" queens and such. Just be glad they aren't out there terrorizing the streets. You all need to get over yourselfs and your "i'm better than you" attitude. Maybe, if you took the time, you might find that some of these girls are the sweetest and kindest people you ever met. And here you are bashing them. No wonder we can't wait to get out of Connersville. Nobody can do anything around here without someone saying we have wrong motives or our parents are just paying our way through something.

Congratulations to Paige! She will do a wonderful job representing Fayette County!
