The ISP and local PD have case files on all CIs.
Trying calling them and see how far you get.
They are called Confidential Informants for a reason. Idiot!!!

Not being law enforcement, I don't really know this, but I don't think it works that way.
I do believe that occasionally, one in trouble can "bargain" for lesser charges or sentences, by, say, giving up a bigger fish, or school of fish.
But I don't think law enforcement agencies actually "register and number" their informants. Think about it, it would really be a stupid way of operating such a thing- one would not want records, especially public records, of an ongoing relationship such as you portend.
If you have something to hide, hide it well. Do business only with very trusted and friendly folks- that will help to keep you from dealing you trash willy-nilly and someday having some mad dad [like me!] on your ass- then you would wish it was only informants and cops you had to worry about...

wonder what would happen if somehow the county could pay snitches for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of drug dealers...hmmm what if........

if any of my family snitched on someone to receive a lesser charge i would disown them. if they do the crime they should do the time just as the rest. In my opinion the snitches is getting out sooner so they can go back to dealing.

actually they do assign CIs numbers. My ex was busted for dealing by a CI and i myself read the court transscripts and it listed the CIs name and number

Yeah like in Indy, they have an anonymous hotline and you register for a number, if it cracks the 'case' then you can collect with the confirmation # or code they give you.
Damn, I think that would clean up alot of neighborhoods, especially the way the economy is right now, everyone could use a few extra bucks!

Fyi, not just anyone can start snitching on druggies for the cops. Trust me, I know. I'm not a druggie and not a snitch or anything but I know someone very close to me that had to do that. I actually think it's good to get some people thrown in jail. Maybe part of connersville will be a little more cleaner. I kinda doubt that though. Connersville is full of druggies.

There is no "ONE" set in stone way that policxe use or get informants. Yes one of the main ways small town cops get informants is through making bargains with those they arrest who are coming up for prosecution. Another way is to recruit former criminals they know that could get or already be in the inner circle of those who are dealing drugs or commiting other crimes.
And just because your brothers ex girlfriends cousins papers stated the name of the informant/snitch does not mean that person is a fulltime informer or snitch....they probably did it to get their own reduced sentence...But I concede that indeed shows a lot about their character and trustworthiness, and would make it impossible for me to trust them if I knew they had snitched on others to save their own @$$.

being a criminal would be reason enough for me not to trust someone. the snitching would be a step in the right direction, albeit a very small one
