You know I would quit whining if someone would just give me a fair shake. I can't even buy an interview much less get hired somewhere. EX visteon workers are being treated like they are a pieces of SH*T. Just look how most everyone on this form talks about the visteon workers.

I had to work at Visteon because my lazy husband (EX husband now) wouldn't hold a job for two weeks. I was in college and holding down a part time job and being a mother to our child. I was offered a Ford/Visteon application and I took it. I tried working and going to college at the same time and I couldn't do it because my no good count for nothing EX husband wouldn't even watch our child. So I dropped out of college and stayed at Visteon to put food on our table and roof over our heads. I guess I should of signed up for HUD and food stamps and lived the good life and had my college paid for..my bad for thinking of my child first.
I gave the bum (my EX) a year to clean up his act he didn't so I left.

The name of the guy in question is Mike Kirkendall.
All I know about the dude is what I read in the story. Hard tellin' what "the other plumber" or others who know him will have to say.

I also agree the N-Ex should tell some 'bad' stories about ex-Visteoners, because I'm sure there are more of them than the "Hey, things are great now, blah, blah, blah."

Maybe Kelly P., the GM at the N-Ex, will read this thread and have a not-so-great story assigned to someone, a story(or series) more about what it's probably like for more ex-Visteon workers than not.

So True Media, I see alot of their names in the paper filing bancruptcy and quite a few have lost their homes. Now I know they should have saved for a rainy day and they were given plenty of notice, but when you can't find a job that money goes pretty quick. I did hear that at one of the job fairs ex-visteon people were not even given a chance. I know the rumors about the lazy-butt workers there but that wasn't all of them, the place did put out product, so alot of people were digging in covering for those who went around bragging about how they had it made.(I know this!) Anyway, I would like to see a "real" story!
Maybe why so many of the feel good stories are out there is because these are the people willing to talk - maybe the others are embarrassed?
I've seen a few ex's that are getting assistance!

This is exactly why! Has anyone ever thought about writing a letter to the editor?? You idiots can't even stay on topic long enough to discuss the matter at hand, or make any valid points!

I was told to stay the hell off the 'toxic' site as soon as I moved to town. But I wanted to see what people talked about and what mattered to the people of Connersville. WELL, I should of LISTENED! 99% of the people on here are cowards using this site as a way to feel good about their miserable lives. I'm off to live in a fantasy world about Connersville.

Isn't it wonderful to remember that a hundred years ago Henry Ford rolled up his sleeves and made a dream come true. Mass produced automobiles at a price the average worker could afford. He even paid his workers enough to rent the housing Ford built and to buy groceries at the Ford grocery!

I agree with x dm worker. I worked there for 26 years, and I don't recall anyone wanting to interview any of us when WCI shut down.

We all forget things, Brother, but as D&M was closing I wrote more than one story about workers right at the time it was closing and closed.

Tom Creech was one of the people I interviewed; I can't remember the other two or three names. Numerous guys declined to be interviewed.

I also wrote a column titled "It wasn't Sammy's Place that closed," that basically detailed how White Consolidated, and whatever the name of the Luxemborg? company that put the final nail in the coffin here.

The reason the Visteon people are getting more play now is because - unlike D&M - it was the last, and largest employer to fold in what definitely is now a dying community.

Maybe something will break for Fayette County and we'll get some kind of business here that will employ a decent amount of people, and pay a decent, livable wage.
The latter statement is important as far as any 'jobs' that do come here.

Kirkendall doing work? All I ever seen him do was ride his bike and talk to women. Interview someone who has something worthwhile to say and not just glorify themselves. The union hierarchy sucked dry the life away from its members like a leech in heat.

Isn't he the one who had his motorcycle stolen out the parking lot up at Visteon right under the watchful eyes of the guards? Get on your bad motor scooter and ride..........

Yes,I sit on my butt and do not want another job, but I am not slow or dim witted.
I have paid into the system for 18 years and when my unemployment runs out - I'll get a job then, so if you ask me - free money is smart!
