Copy of recent article:
Potential? Yes.

" CONNERSVLLE, IND.— A company that might relocate to the former Visteon plant already is working on the facility.

Wayzata, a Minnesota-based cabinet manufacturer, hasn’t yet committed to buying the property on Indiana 1, but all signs seem to point to that decision, Connersville Mayor Leonard Urban said Wednesday.

Wayzata has workers cleaning up the sprawling plant, once the home of Philco-Ford, Urban said.

“We gave the company an early access agreement, and they’re working there today,” Urban said.“They’ve signed a contract for painting, and they’re going to paint it inside and out.”

The building’s natural gas lines passed safety testing Wednesday, and gas to the facility likely will be turned on Thursday, Urban said.

Despite those positive signs, Wayzata hasn’t yet said it’s coming here, Urban said.

“They’re doing the most due diligence I’ve ever seen,” Urban said.“We have an excellent relationship. I talk to them daily or every other day, but I’m not getting ahead of the process. I’ve felt this way before.”

The city waited three years for the now-bankrupt Carbon Motors Corp. to be awarded a federal loan to build the first purpose-built police car in the plant. The U.S. Department of Energy denied the loan in 2012, and the company left town in February.

Wayzata Real Estate LLC of Connersville has until late October to decide on locating here. The time period began June 24 when the city council and board of public works agreed to sell the property to the Connersville Redevelopment Commission. The 184-acre property was appraised at about $4 million, but the redevelopment commission may sell it for an amount less than the appraised value.

If Wayzata invests $12.4 million in the property and employs 309 people within five years, it may buy the facility from the redevelopment commission for $1, according to the agreement.

Redevelopment commission president Joe Glowacki said the project appears to be going in the right direction.

“I think it’s moving along very well. They’re doing their due diligence, and the city is responding,” Glowacki said.“We took the next steps this week. I’m feeling very good about it.”

This week, the Economic Development Commission agreed to issue $3.5 million in economic development revenue bonds to finance the sale and pay for equipment and renovation of the facility. One of Wayzata’s Minnesota companies will buy the bonds if the project goes forward, Urban said.

Under the proposed agreement, Wayzata would receive the real estate and personal property taxes collected over the next 20 years because it’s a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District. The company would use those funds to repay the bonds, Urban said.

“It’s a win-win for us. The only thing we’re giving up is the property tax, and right now, that’s zero because the city owns the property,” Leonard said.“The state set up TIF for communities like ours.” "

Nope, that's not the the cabinet manufacturer that's moving to connersville. I know, because I currently work for the cabinet manufacturer that's involved, and am thinking of moving to connersville.
I've been told that an anouncement will be made 'soon'

To whoever rated this as spam, I can assure you I am being honest. The company management announced to the employees today the fact that we're moving into the Visteon bulding. They gave a very rough time frame, and asked us to be descrete until the move has been made. They told us that they have hired a contractor to get the place in shape as soon as possible. The VP and his wife will be visiting this weekend. For what it's worth, I have a lot of confidence in the owner to build up this company.

I doubt the company has 350 employees or the capacity to maintain 350 employees FT for 3 months let alone 3 years. I have done my own research as to the mfrs of that general area and there are NO companies anywhere near with 350 FT employees. SO, if there are no mfrs there with that
amount of business to sustain 350 FT employees, what makes anyone think they will be able to hire 350 FT employees HERE ? Oh, wait, I forgot the Carbon Motors Company that Connersville 'just knew' was coming...

Thanks for the welcome. Personally, I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin, and I understand (as much as anyone can) the rural attitue. I am looking forward to moving back into a farming community. My home town had a population of 1000, and a graduating class of 66. That's too small. I've been researching connereville for about a month now, and like what I see. Don't like the poverty level though, and I wouldn't move there if I didn't think I'd be able to keep my job. Since they've made the announcement, I think I can say this. The owner Andy Juang is a very shrewd business man. He built a multi-billion dollar computer company called Equus. I have no idea what his plans are for for Wayzata home products, but I know he knows how to handle growth. I believe he did not expect to have a 1.8 million square foot building in his hands, and I can almost see the wheels in his head turning on figuring out how to maximize it's use.

I hope you grow to love our town like many of us do. I have lived here all my life and I don't plan on moving. Like any other town it has its good and bad, but I think Connersville has mostly good. This site (Topix) in no way represents how our people act in our town its just a few immature people that like to argue and cause trouble on this site. But anyway welcome to Connersville.

They are bringing down very few people. So far I've found about 4 people they want to move. This will be VERY much a connersville plant. Corporate will stay up here. Oh by the way, I'm not management. I'm just another grunt, and so far I've had no real job offer. I've only been asked if I want to move. Hard to tell right now, but I'd guess that there'll be a dozzen or less that will actually move to connersville.

I know I should start a new topic, but it's related.

OK, now that I've found some helpful people here (rare, I know), I'm asking for some help. One of the people that really needs to move is a woman with 3 children. I cannot remember for sure, but I think their ages are 2, 4, and 7. She's lived here in Minnesota all of here life, and is afraid to move. Thing is, she REALLY deserves a promotion, and truth be told, has the experience that would be very vital to bring up the new place. So, do any of you know of good daycare, who to contact about schooling, any other words of wisdom that may help me convice her to make the move???? She's a city girl with a country heart.(And no, she's not my girlfriend in any way shape or form, this is purely a professional question!!)

Calvary baptist church is the best day care here. My kids went there until they started school.

I know nothing about daycare. But the 7 year old would be going to one of our elementary schools. It all depends on what part of the city she moves to as to where the 7 year old would go. She can look up the schools online. We have Grandview, Maplewood, Eastview,Frazee I think thats all of them its been years since my kids were in school. I'm sure they all have websites. I don't know if she is planning on buying or renting but there are plenty of places to buy and rent here and things are pretty cheap around here.
