I have a severe sleep disorder-am retired-so try to sleep whenever I can. Had just went to sleep around 10 today when some dipstick rang my doorbell. When I got to door he was in MY YARD walking around looking at my trees. I did not open door. Is this trespassing? Please people do not go around disturbing people. I have enough sence to call someone if I want my trees trimmed or any work done on my property! Put up flyers or ads if you are a handyman. Do not ring doorbell.

Put a sign on your door to be sure this doesn't happen again.

I worked at home for awhile and didn't want to be disturbed esp when I was on the phone. Put up a fairly large sign on the door, do not disturb, do not ring doorbell. Ring, ring. I asked "did my sign fall down" knowing full well it was still there. Just my polite way of saying "You're a moron." "No, its still there. I just wanted to know if your car is for sale". "Is there a sign on it?" No. Did you see an ad or something? No. Why did you think its for sale? "Well, its pretty old, didn't know if it was still running". Thank you for pointing out that my car is old. MORON!

Forgot the best part. As he was getting into his truck, he threw a coke cup in my yard. I went out on the porch and waved him back. He pulled back up in the driveway. I said you forgot something and half handed half tossed the cup at him. Awww it still had a little in it. :( He said he didn't think it mattered since I've got two old cars sitting around. The cars we drive every day. Duh.

Sal, I know what you mean. I live on 44, so occasionally someone has a car break down and needs to use a phone. But I have had someone ring the bell after midnight, and have not been able to see a vehicle.! That's when I open the window and ask what they need. No law says I have to open the door. Even tho some people act like there is. Thankfully, popularity of cell phones has cut down on that.

I'm not trying to defend the guy that rang your doorbell but what do you expect? 1. How is he to know that you have a sleeping disorder 2. Put a sign on your door if you feel this way. 3. Is your yard & trees overgrown to make him think that you need someone to have them trimmed?

] My lawn is mowed twice weekly and my trees are trimmed. Here is what I expect:::whether I have a sleep dis order or not is for strange people that I do not know to not come on my property period. He was off the drive walking around in my side yard. I am wondering if that is even legal. Why should I have to tell complete strangers not to ring my bell? Where are peoples common sence? And if I had needed my trees trimmed I know enough to get recomendations not hire someone of the street!! In this case, off my side yard. lol

So if your car caught fire for what ever reason, you wouldn't want a "complete stranger" to call the fire dept. & ring your door bell & tell you? Haven't you had food delivered to your house. Didn't they ring the door bell? You can't have it both ways! You can't have people not ringing your door bell when you don't want them too & have them ringing your door bell when you do want them to ring your door bell. That's all i'm trying to say.

When I have food delivered I am expecting the door bell to ring. Our cars are in the garage about 20 feet from where I sit. With alarms and such I hope I would know before a stranger going by would knowalso garaGE/HOUE NOT VISIBLE FROM STREET. uSUALLY WIFE IS HOME TO HANDLE DOORBELL/PHONES. Sorry to sound grumpy. I will put a note on door from now on when family is away. I do think it strange that complete strangers come to your door TO OFFER A SERVICE. If it had been neighbor kids selling school stuff it would not upset me. This appeared to me to be some loser that thought he could pick up a couple bucks by doing whatever. I do not hire someone who comes to my door.

I jez scimmed over this, but did anyone happen to mention to jez DISCONNECT THE DAMNED DOORBELL? Then post a note that says "Please don't beat on my door. It makes my gun go off."

Even I learned to turn the phone off when I nap.
