N.H. school unconstitutionally rejects vacation Bible school flyers, permits others

Nothing new here. Its become a regular practice.

* What are the main Muslim Festivals?

Eid-ul-Fitr - The festival for the first day after Ramadan.

Eid-ul-Adha - The Festival of Sacrifice which occurs 70 days after Eid-al-Fitr.

This is outrageous. Every single soul in that school should be forced to read the Bible school flyer and become indoctrinated by christian values.

Think about all the other activities they will be learning instead of reading the good book? Jack of all trades is master of none.

Who needs skills and talent for jobs right now anyway. We're in a recession. The only way to get out of a recession is to put your hands together and pray like you're never prayed before.

Every kid that ever went to church knows there is always Vacation Bible School.

I went myself as a child.

Made a rooster out of different colored corn kernels.

We did not get notices in public school about Vacation Bible School.

We got them in church.

And, since I got a clueless bulb and a spam can, I will add to my post that when I was a kid and going to Vacation Bible School, prayer WAS IN SCHOOL!! I am talking about the 1950s - early 60s here!

We did not get notices that that in public schools back then. The kids who went to Vacation Bible School already knew it was coming before school was out for the summer.

Also, churches all over town put up notices a month before Vacation Bible School starts; they put them up so all driving by or walking by can see them. Still do!

I'm opposed to ANY religious material in ANY public school What So Ever. I find it offensives and it has NO place there...

When you hand out flyers of this type in a public school what you have is a recruitment drive..

Otherwise the children would get them in church, where this sort of thing belongs.

You don't agree with me simply for the fact that it effects your belief system.. However put the shoe on the other foot. If it was Muslim or Atheist literature being handed out left and right,, you would take Serious issue with it, and it would be stopped.

The only way to make this fair for everyone including the Christians is to ban ANY and ALL religious material in public schools. This way there are no feelings hurt and no rights are infrindged upon..

It's just one more future hassle removed from the equation before it becomes a problem...

Like it or not, that's what it is and that's the way it shall remain.

Hi Nettie, I'm a wee bit younger but I recall also pledging to our flag and everyone saying the Lord's prayer every morning. Was a better time then and I hope good times for our country are around the corner. I see no problem with VBS flyers if other flyers are allowed. This is no more indoctrination than Girl Scouts selling cookies. Couldn't one argue that is cruel to the many mothers on diets? What of the kids who don't go to church and want to be with their friends for a week or have thought about what church/God is? I know in smaller towns flyers and word of mouth are everywhere. But, what of bigger cities? The ACLU has high jacked our rights and interpreted them for their own agendas. Common sense is no longer common. Repression is now the norm if you; God forbid; are religious in this country. Yet, homosexuals are embraced? I have no issue with that either. I just find it pathetic that beliefs that produce more positive and good results are shunned over the lifestyle choices of others. God Bless.

Once again you've taken me out of context which; I understand since we can't communicate verbally. I never said anything about prayer being brought back into school. Nor did I state it would make things better. Conjecturing makes you look as if you;re just grasping for things to argue. I was simply stating life was better for everyone back then. Regardless of your beliefs; can you agree that it seemed more people got along because we actually talked face to face? I think our lack of physical communication has actually emboldened intolerance to grow in All groups. "I see no problem with VBS fliers IF OTHER FLIERS ARE ALLOWED." Did you get that? If none are then so be it. But, if <propaganda> can be dispersed by one group then All groups should have that right. It's not because I'm a Christian. I care less if Atheists or other Faiths or what have you pass out fliers. My point is still that IF ONE CAN PASS THEM OUT; ALL CAN DO SO. As for kids not wanting anything to do with religion; It's called -refusing the flier or throw it away-. That's pretty easy. Kinda like walking past Girl Scouts at Wal-Mart with boxes full of cookies!:) I was speaking of ALL people. They want to keep whittling away Everyone's Freedoms of Expression, Religion, and yes- non Expression to the point we are like N. Korea. Homosexuals are embraced as the new Cool thing. I have a gay friend and don't have any issues with this. Maybe to you. Sorry for projecting as it obviously sucked for you. My childhood was blessed and fun. My thinking cap is on. I was just having a memory lane experience! Are we allowed to have different childhoods?:) Why so hostile? For a Catholic; you sure are quick to jab at your brethren. I know; many of All beliefs are very bad in their manners on here. Let's try on women's rights and the fact that separate is NOT equal for starts back in the 'good ole days', how bout it?

And for most; childhood will always be some of the best times of our lives because we were innocent to the realities of the world. We didn't have bills or stress or much dislike toward Anybody. Surely childhood should be the best times of our lives, yet many kids are very aware of the realities of the world; my sis and brothers and I certainly were. We HELPED with the bills and shared in much of the stress of daily living when we were growing up.

Good for you Nettie. It saddens me that many kids aren't allowed to just be kids. I know I was lucky(& spoiled!) but; hard work, loyalty, and kindness were instilled within me by my parents and grandparents. I was blessed many times over for the joys my young life got.
