You're right, Aunt Kim, he didn't deserve to die. Hopefully, with the love you have for your nephew, you will be able to reach out to his friends and help them learn from this tragedy so they never feel this hurt and pain again. Believe me, most people posting here DO NOT want to read about any more deaths of our young people. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Chances are Crabbe's best friend is a ugly nipply festering sputum bag from hell who eats the flea-bitten hag and the arse-licking corpse.

Hey Now wrote: <quoted text> As much as they are going to argue, 19 year olds have not been exposed to the real world yet. You are correct in everything you have said. They don't realize that in another couple of years it will be every man for himself against the world. People that are not from the protective little bubble that they were brought up in don't care about sad stories and excuses, not to mention they can usually top the tale. These kids don't seem to realize they are now responsible for themselves and must own that responsibility. Nobody caused this crash except the kid that died. Yeah it's sad, but as a stranger, I'm just glad he didn't take out any innocents with him. I agree. I also feel they're not informed enough to vote, serve in the military or drive.

Unfortunately this accident is really just a symptom of much bigger issues in our society.
People that are the age of 19, barely out of high school are inexperienced drivers and citizens. Unfortunately our society shelters and protects children and most kids on Long Island do not have the experience or the foresight to make decisions regarding their safety or the safety of others.
Through rumors I have learned that Robert's parents did not even give him permission to have the motorcycle. It was hidden from them and kept at a friends house. This individual was not even old enough to support himself and thusly have the right to keep the bike on his parents property without their permission. He was still young enough to fear the reprimand of his parents. This is an individual who should not have been granted license to drive a motorcycle or even own one.
In a society where we don't trust CHILDREN to imbibe in alcoholic beverages, where CHILDREN are denied access to social events which involve drinking it amazes me that we allow them to obtain and ride motorcycles which have proven to be just as lethal even to the most sober and experienced driver. If you ask me we have it skewed. It is unfortunate but in today's world kids are not ready to drive automobiles, let alone motorcycles where they are left completely vulnerable to the harsh reality of the road and the stupidity of their own judgment.
Until society learns that kids should not be driving, period we are going to see more deaths of good CHILDREN who simply made a bad decision. Granted this decision was dangerous, reckless and even stupid this individual did not have the experience and the foresight to understand the consequences of his actions. It is a blessing that he did not injure anyone else, although I should mention that motorcyclists involved in actions are generally the party who is critically injured -- not so much the people in the passenger cars who they collide with.
It saddens me that this is another life lost in vain for we will continue to see more tragedies of this caliber until serious reforms are made in the Department of Motor Vehicles. You could argue that at 19 YOU were responsible enough to drive but for everyone of you there are 20 dumb, stupid, careless, reckless...simply inexperienced kids out there on the road. Most of them will grow into good people who have outgrown their stupidity and have respect for the road, some like Robert will pass away before they are old enough to learn. The only solution to protect them and OURSELVES is to keep them off the road.
I was privileged to have a professional driver and 19-A examiner for a parent who afforded me every opportunity to become a safe, cautious driver. She also instilled a healthy fear in me of other drivers and the hazards of the road for she knows all too well the tragedies. I still recognize the shortcomings of my peers and the sheer FEARLESSNESS that they have when driving. Warranted or unwarranted, the fearlessness is their and seems to be a symptom of the teenage condition.
19 is too young to die, but also too young to drive a motorcycle. His actions were dangerous but lets not pretend that we never made a dangerous decision before were too EXPERIENCED to know better.
Rest in Peace Robert Roche, and too all others think twice. Be safe.
