SameShDifferentDay wrote: The pope in Australia: "I am deeply sorry for the pain and suffering the victims have endured and I assure them as their pastor that I too share in their suffering... "Those responsible for these evils must be brought to justice..." Is this clown for real? He helped cover up this crap for years. Who is he trying to kid? Justice? How many have been 'brought to justice'? The only justice I've seen is the treatment of Geoghan in jail. ...The pope said the scandal had badly damaged the church. "They have caused great pain, they have damaged the church's witness." LOL. THATS an understatement. Human nature without true compassion causes people to be unable to understand the pain of others until same pain is inflicted on self. Look around, USA is rife with billionaires who have made their money by replacing American workers with outsourcing and offshore relocations. Now banks are failing, homes are lost and the core of the problem is job losses because Joe Public has no money to pump into our inflating economy. We are all interconnected despite the elitist's view from his ivory castle. The Pope down to the parishioner and the IMF down to the wage slave. We are all victims of social sins.

It’s not a sin to be angry. This is evident from the scriptural injunction to “Be angry and sin not”(Eph. 4:26), as well as references to God being angry. For Thomas Aquinas, anger is a necessary element of the virtue of fortitude—fortitude isn’t a matter of just putting up with evil, or of enduring sorrow, but includes actively resisting evil, bravery in the struggle, and anger at the evil which has led to sorrow. Summa Theologica, IIa-IIae, Q. 123, Art. 10. http://billcork.wordpress.com/2007/12/13/revi...

http://billcork.wordpress.com/2007/12/13/revi... Podles pulls no punches as he describes in graphic detail what priests did to young men, particularly in the first two chapters. He eschews euphemisms like “fondling” and speaks of masturbation, forced oral sex, and brutal rapes that left young boys bleeding profusely from the anus. He writes of rings of abusers who were sexually active with one another, having been the victims of priests themselves and having been introduced to one another, sometimes as altar boys or seminarians, by the abuser. He tells of sacrilegious rites and of murder and of blackmail. It is an ugly story, shocking in its detail, mind-numbing in its repetition from priest to priest, from church to church, from diocese to diocese.

I just read information from your link. I could never quite put some things I witnessed to rest. I am coming to a clear understanding that leaving the Catholic Church (and swearing off organized religion for the rest of my life) was the best thing I have ever done for myself. They are overrun with nut cases who damage more innocent people than they can count- myself included. Thank you for the information needed to confirm my decision.
"..Narcissism pervades Catholic clerical culture, as Podles portrays it. It creates a vision of priesthood characterized by a sense of performance. It leads to a preoccupation with reputation and appearances at all levels (299ff). It requires an audience who adore the performer, lay accomplices who grant clerics deference and privilege...Clericalism also affects the society as a whole, as was seen in the past willingness of cops and judges to overlook the crimes of priests in the belief that bishops were better able to deal with the problem. Even in the wake of the scandals, some defend this system of privilege...Narcissism isn’t the only psychological disorder affecting priests. Podles summarizes studies done with seminarians and priests over the past six decades indicating that psychological illnesses pervade the priesthood. Already in 1948 William Bier noted that seminarians were more likely to answer questions as women generally did. A 1968 study showed that 70% candidates for religious life were “psychosexually immature, exhibiting traits of heterosexual retardation, confusion concerning sexual role, fear of sexuality, effeminacy and potentially homosexual dispositions.”(93) A 1972 report by Eugene Kennedy said priests tended to have the emotional maturity of adolescents, and not only had sexual difficulties but problems relating to adults.(94) A 1971 study by Conrad Baars found that 60-70% of priests were emotionally immature, and as many as 25% of priests had “serious psychiatric difficulties.” In particular, they did not properly understand the role of human emotions.(95)..." .

Of course there is more to the story - if the church is closed and that is probably what will be the effect of this latest harassment from the Bishop - the money that this parish has will go to the Eparchy - and that is the real story.

Church closings all over the country and parishioners are all up in arms. The story is always the same...not enough priests....In NJ certain priests will not exit their parishes and Bishop G is calling a meeting. http://www.savestmarys.net/galante-watch/ people fighting back http://www.savestmarys.net/media-page.html http://fosvp.org/ This is the tone that Bishop Cullen has set for the diocese. Sacred parishes, lovingly built by hand as testaments to the faith, are ''hot properties'' for sale to the highest bidders. Ignoring the prayers and sorrows of the faithful, he looks to the rewards of Ceaser for properties near a casino. http://www.mcall.com/news/opinion/anotherview...

No, the real story which you refuse to acknowledge is that the Eparchy OWNS all of the church properties and assets and can do what it wishes. The bishop has already said that the money will go to support St. Andrew's. So what is your point? You take the garbage handed out and continue to whine. You don't even have a pastor. The name on the bulletin is MIA for the past 7 months or more. You are getting exactly what you are asking for by continuing to go there. And truly nobody cares. dja137 wrote: Of course there is more to the story - if the church is closed and that is probably what will be the effect of this latest harassment from the Bishop - the money that this parish has will go to the Eparchy - and that is the real story.

AGREED! Nobody cares anymore. The lavender ladies ALL need antidepressants to get them through their miserable existence. Sell the whole GD eparchy and save us all a lot of misery- which is all this church dishes out anyway. If you read the majority of bulletins they are filled with funeral notices, depressing death liturgies, chastisements or begging for money in one form or another. Be Happy! Doesn't God say life is for the living? How much more DEAD can you get than this eparchy? The eparchy owns it all...EXCEPT YOU. Realize this! Podles spent twenty years in Washington, D.C., working at the Office of Federal Investigations. His job duties consisted mainly of fact-checking applications for security clearances. Spending countless hours poring over both fake and authentic documents and interviewing thousands of people gave Podles the ability to accurately identify con men. It also left Podles well equipped to begin the gargantuan undertaking of writing a history of sexual misconduct among the clergy. He started that work six years ago, and the culmination of that effort is this 675-page exploration of pure evil that includes nearly 90 pages of notes. http://www.newoxfordreview.org/reviews.jsp...

Seems to be, according to reports , Junior High children believe him on that. So........maybe certain clerics would have us believe the same about sodomy. Kinda like the goals 200 education stuff.....if you want 2+3 to equal 4, than it does. No one answer is right or wrong.....tell that to your creditor and see if it works..LOL
