I just read information from your link. I could never quite put some things I witnessed to rest. I am coming to a clear understanding that leaving the Catholic Church (and swearing off organized religion for the rest of my life) was the best thing I have ever done for myself. They are overrun with nut cases who damage more innocent people than they can count- myself included.

"As of 2 August 2008, weekend Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Church in Smithtown, on Saturday afternoons at 4:30pm and at St. Andrew the Apostle, Byzantine Catholic Church in Westbury on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. This change will be in place until further notice and is being made due to the requirements of manpower and transportation. We apologize for the short notice."

You don't get it. Nobody cares anymore. You get zero for sympathy for staying there.

Of course there is more to the story - if the church is closed and that is probably what will be the effect of this latest harassment from the Bishop - the money that this parish has will go to the Eparchy - and that is the real story.

Church closings all over the country and parishioners are all up in arms. The story is always the same...not enough priests....In NJ certain priests will not exit their parishes and Bishop G is calling a meeting.

No, the real story which you refuse to acknowledge is that the Eparchy OWNS all of the church properties and assets and can do what it wishes. The bishop has already said that the money will go to support St. Andrew's. So what is your point? You take the garbage handed out and continue to whine. You don't even have a pastor. The name on the bulletin is MIA for the past 7 months or more. You are getting exactly what you are asking for by continuing to go there. And truly nobody cares.

AGREED! Nobody cares anymore. The lavender ladies ALL need antidepressants to get them through their miserable existence.
Sell the whole GD eparchy and save us all a lot of misery- which is all this church dishes out anyway. If you read the majority of bulletins they are filled with funeral notices, depressing death liturgies, chastisements or begging for money in one form or another.

Well Clinton taught us that oral sex is NOT sex. Seems to be, according to reports , Junior High children believe him on that. So........maybe certain clerics would have us believe the same about sodomy.
