First time I met Clyde was just a couple years ago. My friend and I were packing up after playing music at an event one Saturday in April, and Mr. Will Dockery comes over and says "hey, there's this jam session going on at a friend's house over in Alabama, and you two should come." We shrugged, sure-why-not, and followed Will over to a house in a nice neighborhood tucked away in Phenix City. A friendly, buff fellow named Basil met us in the yard. We got some instruments out of the car, and walked in, where there were what seemed like a lot of family and friends, strangers to us, around the house. Down the stairs to the basement, and there we met Clyde Baker. Clyde was leading the jam session, and it was his house we were in. He was the nicest guy in the room, which was quite a feat considering how nice Basil and everybody else was. It's quite a thing to walk into a house full of people you've never met or seen before and try to make music with them. But Clyde made everybody comfortable, and kept everything relaxed, and made everyone feel at home. My friend and I had a lovely afternoon and had one of the best impromptu jams we'd ever had with Clyde and Basil and their friends. Clyde has been a good friend ever since, and it was always a joy to see him, whenever and wherever it was. Gone too soon.

I've got fond memories of Clyde. This world feels a little more empty knowing he's not here. Godspeed, friend!

Good Idea

Memorial pages are good ideas. Everyone should create their own. That way the best photos and representation of the person approved by the person can exist. Then when a person finally croaks all the grieving relatives have to do is type in the death date. That lawyer from the OJ trial created LEGAL ZOOM, maybe he could create MEMORIAL ZOOM to help less COMPUTER SAVY schmucks create their own memorial page. Artists and musicians could really benefit because they could make sure the right links to their work is included. Let's start a FAD. Everyone start and create their own memorial page.

I'm doing okay although most of us miss Clyde... on the way to rehersal tonight for the Wednesday show, everyone involved is meeting in Clyde's basement, where his last band The Flying Scumbolis used to reherse. I'm adding my new one, "Over You" to the setlist, since I know this assembled talent pool will really take an interesting track with it: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_132... "You've been down to the bottom, baby. Hey, I've been there too. Once thought those who'd suffered together could see it all the way through. You gave up trying, and I guess I gave up too. None of the King's mojo or all your charms could hold this tattered... mileu." -Will Dockery in "Over You". Hear it live at Katy & The Ringers w/ Will Dockery Project at Crimson Barrel Saloon Saturday May 12th starting at 9pm.

vote obama wrote: Vote for obama again in November. Bush is to blame for everything and Romney doesn't know how to do anything. Obama has all the answers. It is just other people who stop him from making an "A" on his report card. Bush is to blame for everything. obama is just being stopped by everyone who won't let him make an "A". It was the same way when he was in school and college. Well, with or without the problems Obama has, or the tarnished Republican party after eight years of the George Bush fiasco, Mitt Romney has his own set of problems... one of which is his "waffle" stance. Not that will sink him, after all, it sure didn't hurt Bill Clinton that much. -- Wobble / W. Dockery & H. Conley: http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_129...
