Speeding is a perk of the Job. Stop ruining it for them, It is just like free ice cream at cold stone creamery. Oh yeah I don't care for your rant on public safety, the world is over populated and this is just to piss you off.
|
Will somebody please tell me what "Somebody" is talking about? I don't think I made reference to Gods Special Police or People. You all should ask yourselves the last time a Trooper/Police Officer showed up at your place of work and started telling you how to do your job! |

Though nothing would surprise me I have not, nor have I ever known a police officer to run lights and siren to go eat...if that's true it's just plain sad...personally I've never been that hungry. However, you can tell when someone doesn't know anything about police work when they say "If you're going to an emergency then turn on your lights and siren." Ok to Joe Citizen lights and siren mean "get out of the way" but to a criminal it means "RUN!" or "TAKE A HOSTAGE!" Secondly, I write few speeding tickets. There is speeding and there is SPEEDING. Speed is relevant to many factors: Area, time of day, conditions, etc. 15 over on Interstate is a little different than 15 over in a residential area. I believe that a speeding ticket is deserved when a vehicle is clearly too fast for the flow of traffic or is clearly causing the publics safety to be jeopardized. I have been cut a break ONE time for speeding, I have cut MANY breaks for speeding. It is funny though, you can charge someone with a double murder and a speeding ticket and they are gonna swear up and down that they weren't speeding. Speeding is definitely not in my top 100 things to worry about in a shift, but I am a city cop, not GSP, they have a different job to do. Oh and who writes cops tickets? We have a Safe Driving manager who runs radar on everything from garbage trucks to fire trucks and police cars...if he gets you you don't get a ticket...you get suspended without pay and possibly terminated. Just another fringe benefit of being a cop ;)

Not talking about running sirens to go eat. Talking about them "NOT" running the lights or siren, hauling ass just to get somewhere.
City Cop "It is funny though, you can charge someone with a double murder and a speeding ticket and they are gonna swear up and down that they weren't speeding." Is that not what is happening here with the cops. Instead of saying that " A, we are human beings too and make mistakes." Also in Columbus why is it that around 11pm that all the cops are hauling ass down Veterans Parkway. Towards downtown? Shift change? To the cops complaining. Please quit your job. You think the world or your job owes you something. It doesn't. If you are that unhappy with your job or feel under appreciated than find a different line of work. I hate when I run into a cop that hates his life and job. There the ones that usually take it out on Joe public. Last point for now. "We have a Safe Driving manager who runs radar on everything from garbage trucks to fire trucks and police cars.". You said "A" meaning one. So you have 1 person that does this. Jesus when does this person sleep. That is alot of overtime. And I bet that the vehicle that this person drives is top secrete and none of the cops know what it looks like or has ever seen it. |

A couple of weeks ago I went by a trooper running radar at about 80 plus. I saw his break lights come on when he put the car in gear. Then he noticed I was in my patrol vehicle on the way home. How bout dem apples dman.

If someone is tailgaiting you know matter who it is or what their doing you should move to the slower lane. Move over slow poke.

You should always move over no matter who it is or what there doing if someone is tailgaiting you regardless of what your doin!

You need to go back to grade school. You can't spell and you do not know what words to use in these sentences that you wrote.

This is getting way out of hand. GSP and Cops alike do what they have to. and if aether GSP or Cops get a ticket while they are off dutie. Pay it and be done with it.

For those of you who have read all of the following input on GSP activities: Why is it that the most adamant contributors have no idea how to spell?

first of all i work for the gsp, before i started working there i always wondered why not only gsp but sheriffs deputys and police passed us on the road at a high rate of speed with no lights or siren on. well i dont know much about city police or deputys because its a completly different world than that of gsp, they have calls such as alarm calls, disturbance calls, fight and disorder calls, wrecks, and all kinds of other things, some of them they cant run lights and siren to go to. gsp only does traffic enforcement & wrecks. if you see a trooper passing you on the road without their lights on, they are usually goin to a wreck without serious injuries. also sometimes when a trooper catches someone speeding on radar or laser they wont turn their lights on until they catch up to them which means they probably just passed you at a high rate of speed without their lights on. back to the part about moving over if you in the fast lane, i dont care if you running 100 mph in a 70, if someone comes up behind you goin 110 mph then move over, i think its pretty stupid for people to think they dont have to move over just because they are goin the speed limit or going over it, move over for faster vehicles, that is the #1 cause of road rage so move over. also some words of a fellow trooper, " i get to speed because i am a cop its kind of like employees at a resturaunt, walmart or something they get discounts on food or clothes, so thats my discount, i get to speed." To the guy from dalton, when troopers first get out of school they dont have radar in their cars for about 6 months, so they cant pull over speeders, so they tend to pull over everything they can find and tend to be ticket happy and trooper 456 from dalton probably only wrote you for failure to maintain lane since it was a one car crash. also Lawdog "somebody" is refering to something that deputy 474 said, i guess he thought it was on yours or something, but i do think its wrong if any law enforcement officer passes you at a high rate of speed if they are just going back to the post or going to a resturaunt, thats completely uncalled for.

it doesnt matter what what state you live in cops think they are some kind of god they break every law you can think of even when not responding to calls if im doing the speed limit then they shouldnt be passing by me not going to a call and no lites or sirens on.or even better example i dont know how many times ive been sitting at intersections and watched cops turn on their lites & sirens proceed thru the intersection then turn their lites & sirens off just because they dont think they should sit and wait like the rest of us do just look around you and watch what some of these cops do (face it rules are rules and laws are laws cops are no different than the rest of us. |

I live in a small town in ga, I have seen the police drive fast as well, for no reason, they just do it, on the day I saw the police officer driving fast he did'nt have his lights on, He drove fast just because he could, And he knew he did'nt need anyone permission, they think they are above the law so they dont have to follow it, but if we do it we are ticketed. And they dont care one pit what they do, as long as they catch you doing it because it makes them money,

I hate to blow your bubble, but the troopers are just like everyone else. They drink and drive but are rarely prosecuted. They are so hung up on being a trooper that they think they can do no wrong. They do receive EVOC training but that's no excuse to drive like maniacs. They are the laughing stock of the law enforcement community. Anybody cn chase cars and write tickets! Even Sonny Perdue won't allow them to escourt him to functions. He uses Crisp County deputies

Citizens will complain about cops speeding and how they drive just because it's a cop. That same citizen will complain that it took you too long to respond to their false residential alarm at 6pm (rush hour) and tell you they hope you enjoyed your doughnut you picked up on the way while you were "lolly gaggin'", because, as you all know, I was just sitting around with my thumb up my ass until "you" called 911. I just try to do my job best I can and sometimes being proficient means stepping on it a little. Complain if you must. I'd much rather appriciate it if those citizens would mind their own business and let me do my job.

GSP I am in the emergancy field. For one SP does not respond to medical calls. That is left up to the fire dept. and EMS . So NO they odnt have the right to speed

Slow it down you old fools, i rather lose a little more blood on my two broken legs than just not having help to arrive and possibly killing others in the process.
A vehicle is a weapon and no one is to drive at excessive speeds, no matter who it is! PERIOD! |
