Hispanics are being urged to refrain from shopping tomorrow and to stay home from work if possible to show their objections to a sweeping proposal to crack down on illegal immigration in Georgia.

I'm 16 yrs old and Mexican-American. The reason why Mexicans and other Hispanics come to this country is to look for a better life. They come to earn more money so that they can support their families. i don't see anything wrong with that. Mexicans suffer so much crossing the border. If you only knew everything they go through. I don't think that they would go through all that if they didn't need to come here to have a better life. Some people are too ignorant and racist. They don't even realize what all mexicans do for this country. They don't take a minute to put themselves in the shoes of people from south america or mexico. Life is hard, its hard everywhere. I agree that there are certain immigrants that come and commit crimes and are leazy and don't deserve to be here. But there are those who have families to feed and support. hispanics are hard working people that do many jobs that lazy americans do not want to do. Though i'm an american citizen i still have to deal with racism because some people are SO ignorant! maybe they should go and get their facts straight instead of being racist and ignorant. Get over yourselfs b/c if it was the other way around you would be doin the same!

Lucero, you seem to be an ok guy. I think what many get upset about is an illegal does not pay taxes, nor does his employer since all is not documented. Yet the illegal can get government help that some like me cannot qualify for after working and paying taxes for fifty years. Please bend a little for the respect of those others that grew up in poverty, worked hard all their lives then ended up in poverty. Being a legally born citizen, you will soon be old enough to experience the reality of paying the dues to support others while trying to give your wife and children a comfortable life.

The Mexican people in this country legally have paid their dues. They are the ones who should be angry with the illegals because they are stealing from them too. If you are an American citizen, you are paying taxes and probably pay for auto and health insurance. Illegals do not, they use yours and mine. And employers who hire illegals and paying them less and slum lords who rent to them, are just as guilty as they are. Mexican people are not the only ones in this country illegally.

don't be so quick to slap people with the racist card just because they don't agree with a situation dealing with another race. Lucero, you are 16 and your comments show it. Don't take that personally, its ok. Enjoy your childhood and the shroud of ignorance that comes with it - but maybe you should do some research and pay some taxes before you come on here blasting people for voicing thier opinions. The key word here is ILLEGAL. I respect every single hard working hispanic who busts there ass to get where they want to be. In fact my boss is hispanic and I have a lot of respect for him because he earned it. I do not respect someone that cheats the system and then cries when it comes back to bite them on the ass. In fact a small part of why our economy is so screwed up right now is because of illegal workers. That being said I will say I don't agree with everything they passed in this new law.

the one thing I noticed in your comments was the phrase "hispanics do man jobs that LAZY AMERICANS dont want to do. If were so lazy then why is this the country everyone desires to come. This great country was bulit on the sweat, blood, and tears of many hard working americans. Didnt notice the word lazy anywhere in there. Just remember when someone says the phrase LAZY AMERICAN that also means you. The last thing I have to say is that the word everyone seems to leave out of this protest is illegal. MY ancestors came over the legal way and so should everyone elses. If we dont tighten securtiy around our bourders, what stops al-Quieda from walking right in.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity. Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

I hate to drain you with words that slip right out, but so far that is the only way that humans communicate. We call ourselves humans but moments like this make me think that we are the cats and dogs that fight. Unlike animals who fight for food and survivor. Us,"Humans" fight for power and authority for the fun of it. I thought Hitlar was dead, but it looks like I was wrong he is alive and he is controling our lives again... If anybody knows how started this law or how proposed this boycot I would love to hear for you. Please, anybody, that knows who brought Hitler back to life let me know. I would love to talk with him or her to see if I understand what in God's name is happening to human race. Sorry for putting God's name in this mess.

ok, going back to the lazy americans. How many americans do you see actually working on carpet? How many americans do you see sewing it, or rolling it, or even packaging it? Yeah, you may see a lot of mexicans in Dalton, but that's because they're anxious to do the job for little pay and do it right. Yes, the Mexicans do cross over to the U.S. in search of a better life b/c there are jobs actually open to hire them. They come looking for a job. How do they find a job. Well they get the job that many Americans do not want to do. I mean, yeah, they are a lot of illegals here, and many of them are not complaining about the law. The ones that are complaining are the legal people, standing up for the illegals. Maybe they shouldn't be given the rights that a born citizen or a citizen has. But they shouldn't be treated like a criminal either. a lot people ask why dont they just come over legal. If they could they would. But our last few presidents have tried to help people become legal. When Bush's daddy was in office, he helped the illegals become legal, and that's how many are now residents, but the last two presidents havent done squat. But can yall imagine Dalton with no hispanics. It would be a poor city. Who would be working in the carpet mills. Do you really think an American, with their education is going to go into a work place, where there may not be any air conditioning, or where the consequences of working hard leave you with bad knees, b/c you work repairing the carpets all day long, and you have to be on your knees. Or maybe, hurting your hands b/c you work in sewing, and you have to make sure you sew a carpet right so they don't return it to you. But you also can't take too long sewing it right, b/c there's already 12 other women sewing away, b/c you are paid by the extra carpet you make. Born in dalton i remember when it was empty and ppl got paid right. I was born in dalton, a mexican american. I was one of the few mexicans who lived in dalton. My parents are legal, yet, i care about the illegal people b/c they're trying hard to feed their families. I mean you can send a person back to Mexico, but that doesn't mean that in 2, 3 or 4 days, they wont be back.

I didnt read ALL of this.. the first sentences were enough. You see AlOT of mexicans working in the carpet mills. MY HUSBAND grew up working in Carpet Mills. Now he finds himself unemployed and looking to those mills again. Guess what? They dont even LOOK at him BECAUSE they can pay mexicans less and NOT give them benefits. Where do WE go for work?? Yeah, MY husband is white and NOT above a mill job... too bad they are all taken by illegals!! Way to go America!!

This bottom statement is wrong. The companies don't hire hispanic because they work for less it's because they WORK... Alot of americans say the mexican do not pay taxes thats not true my husband pays taxes every week. Its just the hispanic work for what ever they can get if it pays good or not.also the illegals pay their taxes but what the american does not understand is that you people can get your taxes back at the end of the year they can't.So I think the gov.needs to leave the hispanic alone let them do their job.Maybe put the american in a field and see how long they will work.People would go hungry because they will not work in fields. They are scared they might get their hands dirty.Put an american man and ahispanic in an onion field see who quits first. And just for the record i'm american but not very proud of my country for the way the people are acting.
