All that government manipulation of the market place gets us this.
Of course if we add the cost to tax payers and the long term drag on the economy that this dept has created we would have been better off if the government had stayed out of this mess.
But then the object was to buy votes NOT to help the country in the long run.
Actually the money was granted by the outgoing administration. It was also because eceonomists, especially the Fed demon who shall not be named, were in a panic and convinced everyone that their failure would completely topple the whole economy, especially since the auto industry wasn't the only one in that boat.

I really did not care which administration did it. To me they are all the same. It was all for votes so the people in washington could stay in office. Which impotent figurehead sits in the Whitehouse is not very important in the long run.

As you say it was blind panic. Panic that politicians would lose Their jobs if the public was not fooled into thinking they were doing something.

Exactly right Cabin, from Foreign Affairs to Domestic Affairs-Obama chooses to do only that which will get votes. Great Point!

Maybe (mis-communication)--- my immediate thoughts bring to mind these quotes.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate" (Prison Captain -- "Cool Hand Luke" (1967))
"Why can't we all just get along?" (Rodney King -- 1992)
Now let's see if we can do both -- communicate and get along.
It's a new day. We move on.
I prefer Struther Martin's quote.

Sure we believe that donations had no effect on how these people voted.

Somehow, I thought you would prefer his quote.-- "LET"S ROLL" (Todd Beamer 2001 - US Flight 93)-- In other words, I agree, let's move on.

Um... what's your point? Clearly you are anti-lasik, are suggesting it be outlawed or something? You've posted links to support an argument (refreshing for this site btw) but I don't see a clear argument!
PS I have night vision issues with halos with contact lenses, always have, even brand new ones. I find those amber "rain glasses" really cut down the glare and help a lot. Of course, it's not nearly as bad as those pics in the second link, but the people I know who have had Lasik have all been really happy with it and didn't have any problems.
You mean people CAN see at night??????????

I need my glasses just to find the floor in the morning.
