Google search can be real handy. Rafiqul Islam Khan has quite a history of taking former tenants to court to collect rent on garbage heaps he rents to those who can't afford high move-in costs of decent places. If they have to move early for lack of funds he adds penalties and fake cleanup bills and takes them to court. The guy is a real saint, the way he helps the poor people out.... of money they don't owe him. The places on Wildwood are not the quiet peaceful homes he claims. It's one of Columbia's more evil areas. It's regularly patrolled by cops and one is often parked there looking for someone or answering a call to check on one of the loud drug dealer tenants Rafiqul likes so well. They always have money to pay him on time and don't complain. It's a good arrangement for Rafiq and his lowlifes, not a good place to have signed a lease at if you need a decent place to live.
He fixes nothing properly, timely, or willingly. He's got to be the top of the list of poor landlords in all respects and bottom of the list of people to trust.
Another google search of his name turns up an odd comment that he donates 10% of his money to Pakistan and "can't be held responsible if he sends someone through school and they go to work for the Taliban". Apparently he knows it's done often and worries he'll be caught.
The man is a pervert who won't pay his debts when it comes time to return a deposit. Check out Mari's convenience store for outdated used food and gas from a different tank every day, some good, some not, whatever's cheapest for him and still market price to customers.
I wish I'd done the search or read about him somewhere before I rented from him. He still owes me after two months of promises. I don't expect to be able to collect a penny of it.
The sending money to terrorist worry of his has me a bit worried too. Some of that money is mine and I definitely don't want it sent to anyone who could possibly use it against our troops. If I couldn't be sure the money wouldn't be used against me it would be foolish to send any at all.
Where is homeland security and all the war on terror stuff when it comes to a guy saying he might be funding an enemy of the US? He's still sending money that needs audited closely. Maybe that audit would uncover the money he owes me and save three hundred bucks from the schooling of another bomb maker or such.
I challenge anyone to post the name of a landlord worse that Rafiqul Islam Khan. He's got the title hands down.

Stay away from anything Barzell Properties. I know, I used to work maintenance for them. They want to put a band-aid on a propblem instead of fixing it properly. They do things half-assed and on the cheap. Renter Beware.

Definitely stay away from the Zelenak's. They are awful!!!! No way will you get a deposit back from them. And they rented us an 8 bedroom house (when I was in college). All 8 of us had to sign so they knew how many people were moving in... then after we paid and moved in they said we couldn't use one of the rooms as a bedroom because of some sort of fire code and that girl had to move onto a sun porch. Then he sold some of the parking passes behind our lot to other people and tried to only give us 5 until we complained and complained. He also called my roomate, an 18 year old girl, an a$$hole at one point. A grown man should be a little more professional! We cleaned and cleaned, then they stole our deposit so they could fix the porch that we'd been asking them to fix for months. They also took their time fixing the heat when it went out one winter. It was in the negative degrees for 5 days that one roommate and I were stuck there over Christmas break. Luckily we had one space heater!

I have had really good experiences with Columbia Property Management.

Paul Hinkson is a slumlord! Renters BEWARE!! This guy takes the cake in Columbia. His homes are filthy and disgusting. He claims upon showing, that "everything" will be repaired before you move in. NOTHING gets repaired. To top it off, when you move out, he hits you with a bill for all the things he was supposed to repair before you moved in. ie; broken screens, windows, holes in the walls, etc. This guy is as low as they come.

Daily Horoscope for November 30

Aquarius

You may feel mildly agitated as the sensitive Moon clashes with your life-ruler. Personal difficulties with family members or necessary home repairs may disrupt your day. Deal directly with problems no matter how much you would rather procrastinate. What you avoid today is likely to escalate into a much bigger problem for you to solve tomorrow.
