I hope Kevin gets out in the 6 1/2 years. Try doing some more research before you read a 2 paragraph snippet and make such harsh comments.
I knew both groups of kids, and they both were far from angels. I didn't like either group of kids. Something like this was bound to happen to one or both of them eventually. In the past year alone they had many run ins with the law and drugs. Point being: Kevin went to the fight to watch. Most people will watch a fight if they know it's going down. It's human nature. While watching, he saw his friend in a fight and getting beaten to the ground. He didn't step in, his friend got into a fight and lost. Than after that, he saw Robert get up and stand over the kid, preparing to beat him AGAIN after he was already on the ground beaten badly. Kevin didn't bring a bat and had no intentions of fighting ahead of time. He went there out of curiosity. He took one swing, and a lot happens very fast in a fight. For all you know he aimed at this kids back and by the time he swung the kid had moved. On the other hand: Robert, helped instigate the fight, went there with every intention of fighting and was also intoxicated. He beat a kid to the ground and then stood over him, preparing to beat him again. Before he had a chance to hit was hit once. Both of them made their own decisions, they are both old enough to do that. Roberts family should not gain any financial benefit from this horrible incident by filing a law suit, both families have already been through so much. You're a horrible person for making judgment when you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. These two teens didn't have any arguments or differences, Kevin didn't go to Hammond high school. Again, went there to watch not to fight. Yes, people do know that Klink didn't have intentions to kill, it's been stated many times in many articles, Which is why the murder charges were dropped. Again, Research could be your friend if you didn't believe everything that was hand fed to you and did a little bit of investigating yourself. It doesn't take much to kill someone when you hit them in the wrong spot. Fist, bat, I don't care what you're using. If Kevin went there with intentions of harming people (like Robert did) than I would say send him away for longer. But he was merely defending his friend. If he wasn't there, you may be giving the same speech about how Robert isn't in jail long enough because he just may heave beaten that kid to death. I would agree with you in that situation because he went there to fight. I also know I wouldn't participate in such a foolish fight, but if for some reason or any reason I ever ended up in a 'brawl' and was beaten to the ground, I would hope one of my friends would grab a bat and come to the rescue before watching me get beat again. I just wish they wouldn't be so unfortunate as to hit someone in a spot where they die after one contact. try doing some research, if you're from Maryland like it says you are, you can easily call news stations or talk to people around Mt Hebron who know what happened. Or hell, most of the information I gave you is available readily on the internet with a little bit of searching. |

Personally, I think that everyone who showed up at a fight where someone died should be locked up for a good long time. Making excuses for these children and their illegal and dangerous behavior contributes to the frequency at which such things happen. Perhaps if the families had been less like you, and not been so understanding of this type of behavior, this would have never happened to their children.

For all we know, their families were tough on them. Some kids are just bad apples.
I personally think the punishment fits the crime, and i'm also hoping he gets out early. From the articles I read online they state he showed up to watch the fight. (in high school and middle school... everyone watched a fight when you heard about it. I don't know of anyone who didn't). Seems like he didn't enter the fight until his friend, who was already on the ground battered was about to be beaten again. He then picked up a bat that he didn't bring and swung once to protect his friend. While I wouldn't have picked up a bat, I do know that in cases with guns it's not considered murder until you shoot them multiple times. one time can be considered defense. That's what he did. He hit this kid one time. I dont know how I feel about the whole situation, and while its so sad at the loss of life in such a negative way, I don't know if its helping anything by keeping kevin locked up longer over a case of defense. No matter how sad the loss of life was. |

Do some research on what ? It sounds like you have some biases and cannot see the picture clearly. I guess in your little closed off world it's ok to kill someone and get away with it. Grow up.

From reading the post by Hebron Graduate it sounds like he is biased. He believes that it's ok to hit someone on the head with a bat. It's ok to fight people. It's ok because he is Kevin's friend and because he is Kevin's friend Kevin is INNOCENT. Guess what Hebron Graduate ? It looks like you need to take a course in Law 101. When you kill someone you go to Jail. Guess what ? Your friend Kevin killed someone and now it's time for him to go to Jail and pay the consequences. I agree with the other poster. You do need to grow up.

It sounds like the Hebron graduate is a big cry baby.

Hey hebron graduate. Your boy klink is gonna be someone's bitch in prison. It's ok, you two can get back together and be a couple again when he gets released.

Klink should not be released a day early from his lenient sentence. All parties involved should be charged. There is no excuse or explanation from such barbaric behavior. These kids are truly animals. There is no need for further "research", murder is the most atrocious of crimes next to rape, and Klink should be utterly ashamed of himself. Hopefully, he emerges in 13 years a better person.

First of all... "Guess what Hebron Graduate ? It looks like you need to take a course in Law 101. When you kill someone you go to Jail." - Actually instead of making yourself look like a jackass, you should try taking a look at law. The truth is, he could have argued that as he saw his friend in danger of death, he responded with equivalent force that he felt necessary. Now whether or not the defense can convince the jury that his use of force was equal to the degree of which his friend was receiving, is what the real question is.
Secondly... "There is no need for further "research", murder is the most atrocious of crimes next to rape, and Klink should be utterly ashamed of himself." - You need to realize what murder is. Murder is defined by not only the act of killing someone, but the intent. But by your rationale, self-defense and the like are murder. But thankfully, that is not the case. Klink was one with high morals, and those morals included protecting his friends, something all would hope their friends have. So you tell me, if you see your best friend getting stomped on by 2 people, do you just sit and watch? No, you run over there and assist... so Klink made the wrong decision to pick up a bat and hit the kid in the head, but then again, small differences could make the difference between a hero or a villian. Lastly... "Hey hebron graduate. Your boy klink is gonna be someone's bitch in prison. It's ok, you two can get back together and be a couple again when he gets released." - You are most likely a pathetic douchebag, that never did, and never will measure up to someone like klink.... and the truth is, you're bitter, because even though you're not in prison, you're still everyone's bitch. |

Hebron, it may be in your nature, but such brutality disgusts others; after all, many would prefer to not watch a fight and instead go elsewhere in search of peace. I see that, according to your own logic, you don’t hold yourself any higher. If Klink had high morals, he would have acted in everyone’s best interest by asking the police to end the fight before it ever began that night. |

No one has pretty much anything to say. All of you are stupid and don't know shit. Those of you throwing judgement towards Klink should look in the mirror. If I was beating your wife, brother, sister, or mother near death with my hands, you wouldn't jump in stop me. Instead you would watch? Sounds more like being a coward, hate to be a loved one of yours. Talking about killing and what is right and wrong, this is all in the area of perception. I really don't care what any of you people say. Most of you guys are dumb rednecks. Leave him alone and get on on with your shitty lives making minimum wage. What's right and what's wrong, give me a break and grow up.
