Check out www.lckennels.com , she is in Russell County has great danes. I have a male and female but don't have any for sale. I purchased both of my dogs from them. Good luck, I love my Danes.

I would recommend a reputable breeder. One who is a member of The Great Dane Club, who tests their dogs for hip dysplasia, & other major health concerns. I have large breed dogs, who came with a good contract, if after buying my pup, it has any genetic problems my breeder will reimburse me my money or I can get another dog. My dogs sire & dam, as well as grandparents & further generations have been tested clear of the health issues of my breed. I have never had a health or bone problem out of either of my dogs, & they're 7 & 8 yrs. old now.You pay more for a good well bred dog but in the long run it pays off. Great Danes have to have a lot of care while they're growing. Shouldn't eat puppy food after they're 6 months old or their bones can have problems growing too fast. Hip dysplasia is a big issue wit Danes too. Can be very costly at the vet & for medicine to treat them & or surgeries. If you buy one, make sure it is AKC registered & not one of those phony ckc registries where you can register a weiner. Look at the pedigree of the parents of the pup, if they're registered, a breeder will have no problem showing you the papers. Make sure you get the registration papers when you get the dog. Then fill out the name you want it to have, send in your fee & you;ll get back your dogs registration. If someone tells you the dog is AKC registered but do NOT give you paperwork saying that for you to mail in- then they are NOT AKC registered. Oh yea, & make sure you have a fenced in area for your Dane or any other dog. Plan on lots of exercise if you get a pup, & lots of training in obedience. Big dogs are problem dogs when not trained, socialized, & exercised. If you're not willing to do all that then get an adult older dog which will require less energy but still need daily exercise & time with you. Try Great Dane rescue, they have dogs who need homes. |
