All dynasty's end sooner or later, and this one has ended. Second year in a row Bourbon beats Adair at state and go figure there's an Adair native directing Bourbon. Great job Eric Hale. Adair would have done good to have hired you away from Bourbon. While Bourbon keeps the trophy at least Adair is going to Macy's but I got a feeling Bourbon doesn't care LOL!

Be careful what you say. In 2003 and 2003, Adair
County took second place at state. So this has
happened before. Adair County hired from the
people who applied for the job. Have heard that
Eric Hale didn't apply. Couldn't hire him away
from Bourbon County if he didn't want to come.
Who would Eric's band be competing against if he
beame Adair County's director? Might take a lot of his personal satisfaction away if he didn't get
to compete against his alma mater!

Correction- the years should read 2002 and 2003,
instead of 2003 and 2003. My apologies.

I don't think getting beat by less than half a point is the end of the dynasty.....just the beginning of some great competitions. I believe that most bands would be thrilled to go back and forth between 1st and 2nd in the state.....mine sure would!!!!
I wish everyone in our community had the commitment and the work ethic of our band students and leaders....this would be an unstoppable place to live!!!

I would have to disagree and say that the bands dynasty if just beginng. Eric Hale is a great director but where did he start--ADAIR COUUNTY Jeff Hood director of Layfayette is a great director and where did he start-ADAIR COUNTY, lets see--Jamie Smith, Andy Critz, and several others who are now directors and are making their bands better then they ever were before, so you see that all these bands reflect on the Adair County Band to. Do you think that it is just a fluke that Adair County started losing as more Adair County Band alumni became directors-- I say that this is a great reflection on Adair County and Tim Allen to instill in these kids the magic of music. Our band is still great--they continue to year after year impress us with their talent.

No, but when you are discussing band the statement that he has done a good job would be expected. Why is it so hard for some to simply say "Job well done!" We must have a terribly bitter community which is a sad thing. If you don't want to hear about band or its directors don't click on this discussion. I am not interested in many of the topics on here and simply don't read them.

A visit to the funeral home last weekend made me think about how short life really is. I am proud of the kids who do well in all activities. The band is great. I guess what I am trying to say is like "Statement" there are more important things in life.

P{lease answer this: Did Adair lose in 2002 and 2003 to the SAME band?

I just think its good to see Adair having to chase someone else rather than being the mighty ones on the throne.

It goes beyond "a job well done," into ass kissing territory and is absolutely sickening. Yes, he is a good man and has done a good job. Please band people (including families) quit ass kissing.

I have to agree with you...Your post above is correct also, and a lot of people speak as if he can walk on water....I don't understand it (and I don't need an attemped explanation from the zombies that disagree)

I just have one question, if I don't like the coach of one of the ball teams, is it ok for me to get on here and celebrate when they lose? Would that be alright with you if your son or daughter were on that team or would you think it is terrible to bash the kids because I don't like the coach or some of the parents? Ok maybe more than one question.

Adair County placed second in 2002 and 2003 to Harrison County's
first place. Eric Hale was the band director at Harrison County
for both of those marching seasons.

No, it by far is not right however some of that has been brought on by everyone being just sickened with the hero worship/ass kissing, and just down right arrogant attitudes displayed by NOT all but by many of the band members and their families. Be Humble in your victories, not arrogant. Arrogance brings defeat, even the biggest can fall.

NO "WE PEOPLE do not think that TA is A Mesiah or anything of the sort, but you have to agree that he is very talented to year after year get these kids to state finals--you should go some time and see a band that has never been to the finals ever--they are so excited--I don't think they even really car if they win, just being there is enough. It is also fine if you don't like the band program, but go on to another thread and just leave it alone. You are apparently very jealous of the program or you would have no interest in this sight at all.
