Genuine question - Why do you feel parents who can afford to are obligated to pay for their children's college?

That's got to be the dumbest question ever!!! They are my children and I want the best for them. When they get out of school I want them to have a fresh start without having thousands and thousands of dollars in school loans to pay back. Why wouldn't you pay?

most parents want to help and want the best for their children. Most parents do help and do whatever they need to for their children. Boy I feel sorry for your children. You have kids then it's your responsibility grow up!

Every able bodied person, esp in Illinois, has a free college education. Join the military, 4 years of free tuition, get out and join the national guard, 4 more free years. On top of that get Gi bill you can make a pretty good living being a student. On top of that, a young adult who has to work for their education will appreciate it more and make it count.

No way in hell I would let my child go in to the military, besides that has nothing to do with the dead beat trying not to take care of his children, no matter what it is.

Apparently you didn't bother reading the thread. I already said that I pay for the majority of my children's education. But I know some people who choose not to, and I don't have a problem with that. Just because someone doesn't pay for their child's education doesn't mean they don't 'want the best' for them. Maybe they believe that the 'best for them' is the child paying their own way thereby developing a good work ethic and learning to appreciate it more. Parents today (myself included to a point) have created a generation of spoiled, entitled brats.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Capricorn

You're keen to look on the bright side of things and to ignore anything unpleasant or worrying. That's fine, provided that you're ready to face up to life's difficulties again tomorrow. But it's not such good news if you persist in looking the other way whenever a problem presents itself, especially if it's connected with your work or health. It may be time to face a few facts, Capricorn.
