Ambulance Service In Columbia

Just read article in Waterloo paper indicating they want to cut costs and combine ambulance with Monroe County. What's happening in this City of Columbia, IL? We need to cut out the cost of having two men riding around in city trucks to do a job and put that saved money into a fund that will allow for a full time ambulance service in this town. Have you ever needed an ambulance and had to wait for Monroe Co. to get to Columbia? I have and it takes a good bit of time that the patient could already be in the hospital (St. Anthony's) and many times minutes make a BIG difference - matter of life or death. And what about these accidents on highways, need immediate treatment - can't be waiting for Waterloo to get here. PEOPLE IN COLUMBIA YOU NEED TO LET YOUR COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY BOARD WE DO NEED OUR OWN AMBULANCE SERVICE IN COLUMBIA. Cut the fat in some other areas, but not on something as important as this. Let's show up at City Hall at next meeting and let those people know how we feel. BE THERE - I WILL!!!!!!!!!!

First things first, we need to take a close look at the columbia fire department aka the hogs at the taxpayer trough, and I will be there to voice my opinion on this as well.

Should of let them develope the bottoms the city wuld hae alot more revenue so they wouldn't have to worry about these expenses.

Have not heard about this, bt I'm sure if they do they will station a ambulance in Columbia as well.

Volunteer fire department, hogs at trough, that's a clown comment ,Bro.

Ditch the Columbia ambulance service and make the CVFD start responding to medical first responder calls. Lots of VFD's around the country provide this service.

good point, that would give the fireman one more sticker to put on there window, one more shirt in the closet, and one more reason to go racing down mainstreet with their blue light on to save a cat

Look at your tax bill people! The school district receives almost 75% of your entire bill! There is no "fat" with CVFD.......But I think it's about time people start questioning the school board and the foolish spending that has been going on there for some time. It can be traced back while Bill Phelps was president!

With his great leadership and experience and love of TIF , I fully expect he will soon be on the city board . Vote the way I tell you.

Bill Phelps another school board pres who broke the law, by impersonating the superintendent to keep those great baseball athletes names out of the paper. Was there at the school board meeting when he was asked in public to resign from the board. He'll be great on the city council, fit right in!

I believe that when the services combine that Monroe County will Place an ambulance in our precious little town. So when you choke on a donut Bluffview they will be right by you to help you.

yes monroe county will place ONE ambulance in town. And what if a tornado hits columbia and waterloo? if monroe county is in charge where do you think that ONE ambulance would be responding!

How about an earth quake, a shooter, plane crash, war, or poison gas, my point being if you want to sell insurance, j sell the fear. Taxes will double soon enough to bail out the pension fiasco in Illinois. Smell what I am saying?
