Thank you, Brattleboro Reformer, for finally reporting on what is going on in Greenfield. Most likely some portion of the 500,000 tons of wood needed to feed the plant will come from Windham County, unless you refuse to sell (it's now a dollar a ton!).(please consider..keeping your trees for yourselves and you may want to also consider keeping the wood harvesters out of your public forests) The billon tons of co2 released from the proposed Greenfield can't be "scrubbbed" out.(Is this one the falt out lies,, Mr. Wolfe?)The air pollution will go up the CT River Valley to your town. Wish us luck in fighting this!

Making electricity creats byproducts. Greenfield does not want those byproducts in their backyards. Someone has to accept the consequenses of of making the electricity that we all use. Vernon VT willingly accepts byproducts from VY. So now do you get it? Now do you understand that you don't get to complain about VY when at the same time you reject this biomass plant in your backyard!

Put a solar panel or windmill in my back yard any day but I don't want a nuclear or incinerator plant. |
|||
You tell lies so feely. |
||||
|
Stop the lies...Akmadenajad of Iran gets nuclear power but USA cannot? Nukes are carbon free by the way France is 90% Nuke so is Japan..stop the bs about nuke power we need it This is why these incinerators are being built because of blind stuoidity of nuke power...BUT THIS IS AN INCINERATOR NOTHING MORE...Do not put this oversized burning trash barrel in my community...this is such a step backward Nukes are the bridge to non carbon future wake up America it so simple it hurts

Highly-radioactive waste sitting on the river bank; leaks of radioactive steam & water; malfunction after malfunction after malfunction; a shay company running the plant into the ground and then spinning it off; a tsunami of decommissioning costs headed our way. We need alternatives to nukes.

The difficulty that I have with the anti nuclear movement is that they will sacrifice anything to shut down a nuclear power plant. Endorsing a technology that could potentially do greater harm the environment in order to shut down VY is of no consequence to this lynch mob. Secondly when confronted with facts their fall back line is, "We will achieve our goal of replacing VY energy through conservation". The trouble is that conservation does not produce energy, conservations parameters are limited by freeing up existing energy. I'm not saying that we shouldn't conserve, I am saying however, that zero growth historically and behaviorally has has not been a sucessful option. While this neck of NE is busy reducing their standard of living, the rest of the nation is more concerned with housing starts and selling automobiles. Anyone who has toured the massive EPA building in DC understands the hypocracy. It's not good enough to be against nuclear energy, you must support better alternatives right here in you back yard. If we don't develop truly clean base load replacment energy for VY, we are doomed to purchase and support coal fired and other environmentally dammaging sources off the grid. Vermont Yankee stores 30 years worth of spent fuel on one quarter of an acre. It does not produce sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides or carbon dioxide. By comparrison to other base load sources VY's environmental impact is a mere fraction. |

I read all this, and I disagree with it. I'll continue to urge my legislators not to approve the VY relicensing. |
||||
I have said nothing that can be disagreed with. |

So how do people feel about the jet noise controversy surrounding Fentress Field and Oceana?
