Absolutely NO! on his being released on parole. He is guilty of murdering an innocent young woman and he should either spend life in prison, or be re-sentenced and executed. He deserves no better.

Saddest part is that without a famous brother, this story may never have seen the light of day. Thank you Lou Smits for standing up for the victims.

I agree. What would it take to preclude the possibility of parole, 10 life sentences!

It should be law that killers of crime witnesses must be given death.

This really should have nothing to do with her relationship to a celebrity. Prisons may be crowded, but I would hope we can find room to keep those sentenced to three life terms to be locked up for more than 10 years on each one.

This piece of trash is serving THREE LIFE SENTENCES for several crimes, and they're considering parole for him? What a joke!!!!! It sounds like he should never be released, ever. Keep him where he is!!!!!

No parole for anyone sentenced to life. Doesn't life mean life? I think it does.

One life term means ten years if paroled for good behavior. He had three life terms which means he can get out in thirty years.

If the victim hadn't been Kelsey Grammer's sister. He was sentenced under the laws in effect at the time of his offense. He is eligible for parole and if he meets all of the conditions, he should be paroled. That's all there is to it. He has been in prison for more than 1/2 of his life. Statiscally, the chances of him committing another crime or being a threat are slim to none. Unless of course, he is now so institutionalized that he cannot function outside of a prison. DOC has not done well at all in preparing ANY offender for release, not just those convicted of murder. 95% of all inmates will eventually be paroled, even those who have committed murder. I would rather have them be released and become productive tax paying citizens than have my taxes continue to support them in prison. But as far as the penal system is concerned, it's all about the money. After all, Bent County Correctional Facility is a FOR PROFIT PRIVATE PRISON. Therefore they have no incentive to rehabilitate people, they want their beds to stay filled.

I would love to know where you get your statistics. Any that I have heard in the past have been just the oppostite. Besides which, I don't care if he's likely to recommit, his prison term of life should be just that. His victim doesn't get to come back after 30 years. Personally, I think he should have gotten the death penalty. Then we know he wouldn't do it again!

To me it makes no sense to give someone a "life" sentence and then in ten years they're up for parole. To me, "life" means life. If it's a ten year prison term, then call it that. The family of any victims hears "life" and thinks they don't have to worry about a criminal anymore. Turns out they just have enough time to get life back to normal and sort of forget about the criminal and then they're up for parole.

The sad truth is, if this wasn't Kelsey Grammar's sister we probably wouldn't even hear about it. Regardless of who she was though, I think a lot of us do care. We just don't hear these kinds of stories often enough.

Chances are "slim to none" ? Come on! Maybe that is what you wish the statistics showed. You seriously need a reality check. This story may only have made the news because of who he killed, but believe me, the average citizen does care if a guy sentenced to 3 life terms gets out and moves in next door. Stick with actual facts and get beyond your personal agenda.
