It wouldn't(mine is $500), but most likely, damage would exceed that amount anyway. The car could be replaced or fixed, for me, the more important thing would be for them to be taught a very hard lesson about consequences of that kind of behavior.

Just read through all of the comments and it makes me physically ill to think that there are people out there defending these LOSERS! My kids are still having nightmares and are afraid of what will happen next...I hope you think twice before you justify this behaviour in any way again!!!!

Idea: How about everybody who woke up with broken windows, brick damage and crap go down to court and file for Victim's compensation so the Judge can make these A-Holes pay restitution to everyone.
Failing that get a civil judgement against them in small claims court.

I was one of the victims unfortunately, and I was told up front that i probably wont be able to prosecute bc I didnt have an eye-whitness. So I am out $300 to replace my back windshield that was smashed with a metal mailbox
