Jaime Mendoza, the store's owner, said a year after the raid his business has evolved to mostly sending money back to Mexico. Skittish workers aren't investing their wages in homes and are buying old beaters instead of newer vehicles.
"What's happening in Logan is the money is leaving," Mendoza said.
That uncertainty about the future is shared by many within industries that employ tens of thousands of immigrants in Utah, home to an estimated 100,000 undocumented people.
The immigrant workforce is vital to areas of the state economy, such as construction, landscaping, and food services as well as meatpacking, according to business leaders and experts. Business owners say they remain caught in a Catch 22. It's illegal to knowingly employ an immigrant not authorized to work in this country, yet they say they need the workers."

So, are we now to feel sorry for millions of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS who defied our laws?

I feel sorry for the citizens who had their identity stolen. Why don't they sue the Federal government for not enforcing our laws against ILLEGAL ALIENS.

I wonder if this store owner is aware he is breaking our laws by even selling ILLEGAL ALIENS food. That falls under aiding and abetting ILLEGAL ALIENS to come to or remain in the U.S..

$13.00 dollars an hour! I bet almost any American would have done that job which just goes to show you the Illegals are LIARS and took jobs away from Americans. They stole peoples Social Security numbers and Identities to obtain those $13.00 an hour jobs too which proves they are CRIMINALS.

Another claim without any backing. It sounds like the predictions of how that Swift plant would be in dire straights. Yet, there were plenty of legal workers available who DID want those jobs.

Wow a lot of people that won't even admit in the ways they benefit from illegal immigration. Why do you think there are Mexicans cooking your food in your favorite Chinese restaraunt? There are benefits AND costs (I still believe there are more costs than benefits), so please try to allow for truth and levity in the discussion by tempering xenophobia with rational thought.
