Full story: Atlanta Business Chronicle

If Doraville is changing an existing zoning ordinance, someone in the good old boy circuit undoubtedly has an interest in it. Doraville does what Doraville wants to do with absolutely no regard for the residents.

Wholesale businesses are what's keeping Doraville humming! Getting rid of them would leave half of the real estate vacant on Buford Hwy. How many parts of the Atlanta metro area are as busy and successful as this corridor? Don't kill the golden goose!
This is especially important since Doraville is running a small deficit right now, possible due to insisting that any business type not specifically named on a very short list be given only a conditional permit, which means that in addition to the license fee and the inspection fee for setting up business, the would-be entrepeneur also has to pay $850.00 just to get the city council to consider allowing their company to start up in Doraville. I think most would-be entrepeneurs would go somewhere else if this fee were known to them before they rented space in the area.

Doraville is not a good place to live or do business. AT&T spent a million dollars installing DSL equipment (on their end) with the hopes of getting 75-80% of their customers on line.
After 10 years, that didn't happen. To date, they've only achieved about 2-3% saturation.
