This is getting way way way ridiculous. They will take a kids phone for nothing. i know someone whose phone dropped out of their pocket. phone was off, but the teacher took it for a month. i would like to see her go without hers for a month

The kids are not supposed to have them in school.. it's makes no difference what the teacher has or doesn't have. They know the rules but they choose to not obey them.. Then the kicker is that parents support them when they do wrong..

Yeah but a cellphone is bought and personal property. I see maybe keepin it til the end of class but not for a month. Anywhere else you take someone's personal property that they bought would be considered stealing.

I agree with Grantite... they were told at the start of the school year what would happen if they had their cellphone at school... we as parents may not agree with the rule... but that does not mean we should be upset with the teacher when he/she does the right thing and when the kid does the wrong thing.. that is what is wrong with kids these days they have no respect for authority and their parents condone it..

If they know it's going to be taken away, why are you going risk that by bringing it to school???

I am in agreement with the kids following the rules as outlined by the schools, but teachers are to set the example and they should follow the same rules. When students see the teachers using their cell phones at school then it causes a problem. Please don't use the argument that teachers need to make personal calls or calls to parents, etc. They can use the office phone the same way the students do.
Parents are expected to set the example at home and I believe teachers are to set the example at school. There are other parishes that have prohibited the teachers from using their cell phones during school hours as well. If they are at work, the should not be using the cell phone. My company has cell phone policies that are enforced. And we abide by them. My boss does not use his cell phone at work either, he leads by example!!!
And before you make a negative statement, my children have graduated but while they were in school, I did not allow them to bring the cell phones. I made them abide by the school guidelines, but I have always disagreed with the fact that the teachers could freely use their cell phones in front of the students.

grant parish school board handbook does not say they cannot have them at school. It says that cell phones are not to be seen nor heard. If you are going to talk about the rules, get it straight.

o give it a rest you are beating a dead chicken they are not to have them at school face it if the kids would stay off of them and not text in class and do their work maybe they would be allowed to have them at school but they aren't so stop whining. I have kids that go to mhs and they do not bring their cell phones to school and they manage to survive the day without them. So again give it a rest....

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Cancer

You've got high hopes about someone or something today, and you're confident that everything will turn out well. If a positive attitude is a guarantee of a positive outcome then you have nothing to worry about. But is it? There's a chance that you're being far too optimistic, and confusing fantasy with fact. If so, you'll be in for a big disappointment.
