Pills

Okay, don't get bent out of shape or anything. I have a question for all of you Prescription Med Addicts out there. I have a really hard time understanding why are they so much more addictive than the drugs of choice of my time. I did lots of different drugs in my day and then I got a family and responsibilties and I gave them up. I also have had multiple broken bones, back surgeries, and both knees replaced. I had to take pain pills but, then I stopped. I still work and hurt just about everyday, so I put some Icy Hot on my aches and pains.
What I am wondering is, Why when people are dying everyday of pill overdoses, are you still doing these pills. why is it keeping mothers from being mothers, and fathers from being father's. I cannot understand all of these people walking away from their own kids, for a pill. I have so many friends raising their grandkids and some their great grandkids. It just boggles my mind. I am really looking for some serious responces. I personally know 3 people who overdosed in the last two weeks and all of them had kids, but were not taking care of them.

It's an addiction that overcomes them. They have to have that pill. It's more important to them than their own children. That's why these grandparents are raising their grandchildren, because the parents chose drugs over them. They can't take care of them, because they can't function. The only thing they want is that next high. I understand people get hooked on pills because of a serious accident they had, but MOST addictions are just for the high. Just look at our future. It's pathetic.

I don't understand this either. It is very heartbreaking to family members. Watching your child,brother, sister or anyone you love going through addiction. It truly don't just hurt the addict. I am going through a very difficult time with a family member right now. I have done all I can and I am scared to death. I wish I knew what to do. Watching a great person lose everything. All I can do is pray. I wish the doctors would not give this stuff so freely to young people. I also know grandparents raising their grandchildren and I could end up doing this if something don't change soon. I welcome any advice. I just don't understand. Most of the stuff like Zanax makes people so mean. Right at this moment I sit and cry because you can't save them. I pray so hard God will intervene. I ask what did I do as a parent to cause my child to turn to this life. My other children are fine. If anyone prays please pray for this young man in so much need. He has a family and his kids need him so much. I lay awke every night worrying. I just wish the right person could talk to him. That might help. I just don't know.

It is sad that families are going thru these times that the kids and grandkids are suffering because this young generation will not take responibility for their actions and the precious children are suffering...If you can't take care of them you should had never had them..Grow Up

if you have never been addicted to drugs i don't think you would be able to understand. I am a drug addict and i am addicted to pain pills. I enjoy the way the pills make me feel and i suppose it's like any other addiction weather its alcohol,gambling,sex,cigarette s, or any of the many other things there is that people are addicted to. Drugs do destroy families as well as many other types of addiction. if i don't take the pain pills i get very sick which feels like i'm gonna die. I get very shakey and every muscle in my body aches. I get the chills and the sweats and I feel like i've got to throw up all of this at the same time. But about 45 minutes after i take a pill i feel great and all of the aches and pains and the sickness goes away. I feel very energetic and i feel like i can do just about anything i want to do like i have no worries in the world and i get this from one little pill. and yes after a couple of hours it starts to wear off and then i need another one to start the process all over again. just so you know i am self employed and work 7 days a week about 10 hours or so a day. i do not get a ssi check or any kind of welfare but i do get my pills from someone that does.

What is the solution to help these people? You can't make someone stop. You just want to scream at them and try to wake them up. It don't help. Soo frustrated! i can't seem to carry on with my own life. Trying very hard to hold on to my own sanity. I do feel a breaking point for me.

I wish all the pill heads would get 'em a 5 gallon bucket of pills. Everybody sit down in front of said bucket. Then dive in a snortin' and a eatin' and a shootin like pigs at a trough. Then when all the idiots keel over dead, take a bull dozer and cover them all up and be done with all of 'em. Then the families can grieve awhile and stop the worrying 'cause then they'll know where they're at and what they're doing.

I have been addicted to cigarettes and pot, and I guess probablly alcohol. I smoked cigarettes for 37 years, pot for 30 or more years and alcohol for about the same. I did get to a point in my life, I called rock bottom and stopped it all. That is what I was sondering. Why are pills so different. Like I said before, I have had to take pain pills at several different times in my life, but never got addicted. My main question though is, Why are they so powerful that people walk away from their own kids? Do you have kids? I am not being a smart***, I am truly concerned for some people I know and love, and can't understand the way they have forsaken all for htis addiction.

Don't do it the first time. I would hate to live the life of a drug addict. That's no life at all. There's more to life than that.

no i don't have children myself and i don't understand why someone would walk away from their children or their family but it is a very powerful thing to be addicted to drugs. my family would come first especially if i had children and i suppose i haven't come to point of rock bottom yet i have quit for about 3 months the first time and almost 4 months the second time and each time i tell myself i don't ever want to go through that again but for some reason i keep going back i have smoked pot for a long time i've done cocaine alot where i would be up for 3 days straight and i've done acid and drank a little bit every now and again and now i don't do any drugs except the pills and cigarettes and these seem to be the worst because it is so tough to give them up. sometimes i don't think i could make it through the day without them. some day i will hit rock bottom or they will kill me first

I will pray for your rock bottom to hit soon. I see so many dying now it seems every day or two. What do you think when you hear of another one dying? Do you think, I may be next. t must be powerful.

I have a addiction to pain pills as well. I am in treatment now but when I was doing the pills it wasnt about the high after I was addicted. It was about not being sick everyday. Most people who swallow the pills dont seem to get addicted as much as those who choose to snort them. The aches in your body are terrible and your stomach cramps you get chills and the shakes. Imagine the flu like 15 or 20 times worse than a normal flu. I do have kids but I have never neglected them nor have they did without what they need. I never hit a rock bottom, just got tired of running for a pill everyday, being broke as hell all the time, never having the things that I wanted and didnt have the money to get it. My kids never saw me buy pills or do pills. It has however caused alot of problems with my marriage. It was ripping my family apart and it still is. I am in treatment but my spouse isnt. Its hard for one to want to be well and not the other. But we are also working on that, but I have swore that nobody eles will be raising my kids. I will not chance on losing them and they are my inspiration for making my treatment work. I hope everyone with addiction will someday overcome it and take thier life back.

Maybe slap happy Pappy..These people really do have a problem and maybe there worth saving and maybe the people that love them don't want to plan there funerals but a intervention and maybe they hold on to hope and love for there family and friends..someone like you should lose someone you love and see how easy that is to deal with..and who know maybe god will give you a little ,of what you want for others

I have dealt with it. My brother died 2 years ago from the junk so yes I know exactly what it's like to deal with it. After awhile you get tired of trying to intervene when it's to no avail. Try taking your daughter to a rehab and when her boyfriend goes and picks her up they stop for pills. Tell me you would not get tired. Watching your kids sell off all their belongings for damn pills. it gets old fast and very frustrating. My position is if your hell bent on killing your self go ahead get it over with, get the burying and the grieving over with and the families and friends that love you won't have to sit and worry for days and weeks about you anymore.

Do you honestly think that people want to be addicted to drugs and your answer would be for them to die and that way you don't have to worry about them any more..I can say one thing for you.....you hold the wrong people responsible..the Doctors are giving these drugs to young people that don't need them..get them addicted and them hold it against them for being a addict...Sorry about your brother but I choose to think there is good in everyone..even people who become addicted to..legal drugs..remember there only bad drugs when you buy from other people not when you go to the drug store and buy them there.

You know, I have watched my kids, friends and lots of family addicted to drugs. We all know the problem starts with Dr's handing out the scripts, the law not doing enough to stop these trips to Forida and other states. There was a man right here in this community that decided Marsh Fork Elementary was an unsafe school for our Kids,,,he set on the capital steps till the govenor talked to him,,he walked to DC..our community is getting a new school due to his determination to make a change. What I am saying is, we can set and talk about it all we want,,,but until a bunch of us who are truly sick of it ban together and march the capital lawn and demand something be done,,,there is no need to keep complaining. The addicts are pittiful people none of them said hey I want to be a drug addict.

Simply because they are so much stronger and refined than anything we could come up with. A pain drug now can give you the same affect that it used to take 3 drugs to do.

Say Loratab. would = pot,opium and speed then.

When you take more than prescribed they are no longer "Legal" drugs. When you use up your prescription and go on the streets buying more those are not "Legal" drugs. When you sit day after friggin day telling people, aka your children, that the damn things are addictive and they choose to go and get addicted anyway. Then yes they "Chose" to get addicted. The majority of the youngsters in this area didn't get addicted by going to the doctor. They chose to steal grannys pills or take pills that their buddys stole from granny, daddy or whoever. It just amazes me that some of these people watch their family and friends DIE from pills and CHOOSE to go ahead and do them anyway. Pitiful lot is all I have to say. The cost of these pills is another subject I'd like to approach. Where in the hell do high school, middle school children get the kind of money it takes to buy pills. Does no one in their families see things missing or are they too stoned themselves to care. Maybe they've stooped so low as to pay the kids to get the pills for them and the kids. Pitiful pitiful lot. If you look around Southern West Virginia you'll notice that about 3 generations has went to hell in a hand basket. God bless the 4th generation. Their future in this area is bordering on hopeless. The 3rd and 4th generations I speak of are our future teachers, leaders, politicians, etc. Scary thought isn't it. Pitiful pitiful lot!!

im a granny with 2 grandchildren in states custody due to pills my daughter chose this addiction she was never around the mess and started after she was grown and on her own...i love her but will never trust or respect her due to her choices she has made my youngest grandbaby was born addicted and in major withdrawls for a long time and we still dont know how much damage was done to him..i make NO excuses for her actions and she is broken hearted over losing her babies but in the long run it saved her life getting caught i pray everyday she NEVER touches another pill and she can have her babies back with her soon but she should pay for her own actions..at all cost
