What a great opportunity for people in this community,as for the railroad, it can't be any worse than some of the noise from vehicles on the roads.

I have nothing against unions but the union mine workers sold out by their own people long ago. Does anyone remember the local officals a few years back stealing from their union. Greed lead to jail time. This just didn't happen around here. If the union want to represent their people they should have done it. Not been affected by Greed. They sold out their people to deals. That is what is happening to the Auot Industry (Unionized). The fat cats are feeding off the top crust and filling their own pockets not caring about why they are there. I had relatives in the miners union who died of lung disorders and survivors denied black lung. Why? You tell me. They worked underground for years. So where are the unions in this area. Peabody was union and now they are not. I know ex- union miners who have more of Peabody property than Peabody why they stole them blind. Maybe people need to wake up and treat a job the way it should and not abuse. There are two sides to every story. We need to stop take notice of what the real issues are. The people of this Country are going hungrey and broke. Where is the union---They sold out to Greed. It will continue if unions don't get rid of the Greedy BA's and the lousy work ethic. Work ETHIC in this country has gone donw hill. I currently work with 15 people out of the 15 people only 3 of them earn their salary. The other 12 are relatives or friends of the supervisor. That is what is wrong

Where is this story in the news???
UPDATE, 1:04 p.m.: According to radio traffic three prisoners escaped from Branchville Correctional Facility at 9 a.m. today and injured a Branchville employee. The offenders, Jerry Sargent, Christopher Marshall and Bobby Cockrell, are wearing tan and kahaki colored clothing. Marshall has tattoos on his arms and Cockrell has a tattoo on his throat. If anyone has any information, they should contact law enforcement officials.

UPDATE, 10:51 a.m.: Missing prisoners are described as:

Jerry Sargent, 59, white male, red hair, blue eyes, 6'5" tall, 210 lbs., from Clarke County. Sentenced in 1988 for armed robbery and criminal confinement. Sentenced to 50 and 20 years for those respective crimes.

Christopher Marshall, 49, white male, brown hair, green eyes 5'9" 188 lbs., from White County. Sentenced in 1996 for two counts of dealing in cocaine or narcotic drugs with a projected release date in January 2021.

Bobby Cockrell, 32, white male, brown hair, brown eyes, 6'2" 220 lbs., no county given. Further information not available on Indiana Department of Correction Web site.

UPDATE, 10:34 a.m.: The injured employee said his keys are missing, and that he drives a black Ford Ranger with a camper shell.

UPDATE, 10:29 a.m.: Further traffic indicates three prisoners are missing.

A maintenance employee at Branchville was injured and officials are reporting two prisoners may have escaped, according to police-radio traffic.

Perry Central Community School officials have been notified and are taking steps to protect students and visitors to a grandparents day.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

I remember Mr. Peabody he had a side kick named Sherman. So he is opening a mine. I guess like most tv children he has grown up. It looks like he made the adjustment back to the real world. I know alot of those child stars just cant seem to make it back into the real world. I did hear Sherman could not take the rejection and became a homeless alcholic. Do you think Mr Peabody will give Sherman a job. I read where some of you dont like the union well let me tell you if it wasnt for the union we would still have slavery. Those confederates needed to be beaten and they were so dont bad mouth the union.
So why do they throw all the props at Abe Lincoln for?

Coal mining should be done away with. The reason why the earth is dying now is because we are sucking it dry of its natural resources like gas,oil and coal.Im sure alot will disagree with me on this but in the long run if we all keep draining the earth of its resources our childrens children will suffer.

Is the union going to shut this one down like they did Buck Creek a number of years ago. Those idiots go on strike over a dime an hour and end up losing their jobs and shutting down a mine that should have stayed open for another fifteen years...

When one refers to gas, oil, and coal-it certainly means natural gas in that context. It does not mean gasoline.

And I'll be nice and not refer to the school again...

No just someone who felt they should open your eyes before the state of indiana becomes nothing but thousands of leftover coal pits turned into lakes.Or better yet the whole state could one day cave in from over working it.

A nation without coal would be wonderful. But unless you are powering your computer by bicycle power, you are dependant on coal. If you want to drop back to third world standards (the governments goal), and only have elctrical power on a limited basis, then close down the coal mine. The alternative electricity crowd cannot develop systems fast enough to replace the black gold.
