You can ask your school librarian to help you find "How to Prepare for an Earthquake" and what to do after it begins. Find out which groups in your city have literature to send to you.
Many times, we are more afraid of the "unknown" than of the actual event. There are many things you can do to prepare. One is to have a backpack ready...they say to keep it near your door in case you need to run out quickly. Carry it with you to school. You need a change of clothes, extra medicine, your proof of identity, a flashlight with fresh batteries, nonperishable food and a water bottle with long life (Culligan sells such treated reverse osmosis water.) Add a special keepsake or a copy of it...in case your home would be destroyed. Something that shows your history, your family, your birth and school pictures. If you have room, include proof of your latest school grade completed report card, so you can show that you do not have to repeat grades. Put in a warm jacket and gloves and a hat. Sunglasses. Something that lifts your spirit and comforts you.
Especially put in telephone numbers of relatives or good friends of the family who do NOT live in your immediate area in case all of your telephones are not working. You can go to the nearest RED CROSS SHELTER and they will have telephones set up to call out-of-state numbers. Be sure to have your parents' information with you, also, so the Red Cross staff members can help you relocate your family members. Be patient...these things take time. It is helpful to be a part of a Bible-teaching church, also...you may be able to find temporary help from them if you get separated from your family for a while.
Be strong...I will be praying for you if I hear of major quakes in your area. I understand your concern. I hope you find this reply. I could not believe no one else answered you back when you first wrote. I apologize for everyone's insensitivity. You were very brave to write and ask for helpful information. That tells me that you will be able to survive anything...carry a small Bible with you in your backpack, also. Read the Psalms and quote them aloud...they give much comfort when we are very frightened, confused and not sure which way to go. ASK the Lord to help you...He will hear you.

Read the Bible's Book of John in the New Testament...that has some really neat verses in it, also, that will guide you.
