SOBOBA: Hotel-casino plan faces opposition

you annoyed residents are right and it hurts me to admit it. The truth is the problem is huge and mainly involves the younger generation.It is appalling that this happened and the fact that soboba08 is proud of the fact that cops were shot at on the rez is even more appalling. its not wounded knee its nothing to be proud of.

Still at the end of the day someone lost their life. family's are grieving and i feel for them . No matter what the circumstances may be.

Where was "Tribal Enforcement" during the late night cowardly AMBUSH? Hiding in the neighborhoods that is NOT part of the reservation?
Perhaps some of that casino $$ would be better "spent' on drug re-habs, education and socialization, for a handful of the residents on the reservstion, who do not know how to obey the laws, and run from the police!. The few that contiuually give the tribe the bad press, can't tribal council step in and control their own people? How about "continue this behavior & allowance is cut off?" Does Soboba 8 really think the Sheriff's have nothing else to do but try & keep peace on the reservation? Basically baby sit the bad seeds? And risk their own lives going to the reservation, knowing assult rifles & meth labs exsist? Salgado stress' how he wants to HELP improve the communitie with the new hotel etc., have the big guy start in his own back yard!

Soboba08 you say have a little respect because your family was involved... if he hadn't been involved you might be able to make that comment. Whether it was a brother or father, uncle, etc... it is sad that a life was wasted needlessly but who should have taken the bullet? The police doing their job or a family member being a "thug"? You don't deserve/demand respect... you earn it! Unfortunately for all of the law abidding good people on the rez... those that continue to break the law and cause the problems for your people will eventually put you back to where you were prior to your abilities to receive millions of gambling dollars to "better yourseleves". Don't you think that all the crime and mindless acts taking place on the rez will eventually start to dry that money train? People won't want to come to a place that they feel unsafe... sure the one's that are ignorant(out of towners) to what is happening will continue to come but for how long? With Pechunga, Morango, San Manuel and all the other places people can go why take a chance. Why not try and help your people rather than talking smack about how tough you are? It shows ignorance it doesn't seek compassion!

Yup thats what i do too is spend money on guns but oh well who doesnt are we the only californians that buy Assault Rifles No! so why say that. I have a Question Why do you care what happens on our reservation when u live so far away is this hurting you in any way? theres crime all over the place its just because were such a small community thats why it seems so High in Crime.

I just caught the 10:00 news, appears there was another gun battle on the "oh so safe rez" tonight where two more assualt rifle armed suspects attacked deputies. This time you should be very proud as it is all over the Los Angeles news and will make ALOT of headlines. I can just see the little old ladies and tour buses turning south on the 15 now to got to Pechanga. Hold off on the overnight delivery of the newest "Hooked on Phonics" until your monthly check stabilizes from the drop in tribal membership and bad publicity.

Well Soboba08, I don't know how you're going to respond to what happened yesterday. The whole "why don't you just stop worrying about what happens on the rez" defense doesn't work when MY local law enforcement has to catch your criminals because you guys can't police yourself.

First of all, I'll have you know that I am a local... I have no idea why everytime I post it says a different city name (redlands, san diego, etc)... it has something to do with my ISP's revolving IP address.

What happened yesterday was complete nonsense... two people start randomly firing at your own tribal police? For what? Just to attract the police and get involved in another shoot out? I honestly don't understand what is going through these people's minds half the time.

Anyway, everytime another sheriff's deputy has to go up onto the rez and take care of YOUR crime, it's one less officer protecting my community that my tax dollars are paying for. I think it's about time the sheriff's department starts sending the tribe a bill for law enforcement services, whether you're under contract or not. It's about time the BIA gets involved and forces you guys to police yourselves.

I can tell you this much, you're entire tribe is never getting a penny from me again.

The paper confirmed today that it was 2 more tribal members killed. Perhaps this is another theory as to what is going on. Over the last several years, there have been numerous storied on how Pechanga is trying to remove members from the rolls due to lack of proof of being an Indian. Perhaps these recent attacks (and resulting deaths) is just the ghetto Soboba Tribes way of thining the herd a bit?

Unfortunately I don't know who is more illiterate and ignorant to the concerns of the Soboba tribe... you or your chairman Bobby Salgado! I really think you and the others that act and sound like you (ie. poppie, salgado, etc...)don't really care about your fellow man let alone your fellow indian. One of the persons involved in the clean up after last Thursday's melee said he over heard poppie say, "Well, at least my check will be better this month!" Four more deaths will mean his check might go up by a quarter of what it is now! What type of mentallity is this? Now, I know you will probably say too bad we can't meet face to face which seams to be your m.o.(you have probably been in jail so you should know what that means!) I tell you what I'll meet you in the field at Soboba and Lake Park, please wear a big bullseye on your shirt so when I ambush your ass I know who you are... Now that doesn't sound very civilized or kind hearted... probably raises your blood pressure... it would mine. What I am trying to do is make a point... the cops aren't stirring this confrontation... it's the "thugs" on the rez coaxing the troops in so they can be target practice. I feel sorry for them because they are making it difficult for all of the good people that don't want trouble and just want to live their lives in peace.
