I'm sorry I was incorrect, Lynber Lane and Warnecke Drive are not next to the Clyde Dump. Warnecke Subdivision is next to the Clyde Dump
Im sorry my mistake |

I also live in Toledo and my family member worked in walbridge I have been thinking that Walbride had a cancer problem for years. I was always wondering what the people in Walbridge thought the problem is and why the cancer is so high there. |
They opened a dog park in Clyde that sits on top of the old wastewater treatment system's settling tanks. |

Alexa Brown passed away this morning. my thoughts and prayers go out to the family in their time of need. The passing of Alexa should only ecourage us to work harder. every minute we spend studying this problem is another minute we gain that could possibly save another childs life. i have known some of the families in diferent ways. the kellers lived right down the street from me in a new house they built several years ago. the Brown family lives in a newly constructed house along with the Hiseys. when you build a house you obviusly want it to look nice and that includes the yard. most people throw that QUICKGROW or something like that. the green stuff to make it grow quiker. the affected families probably put that on their lawns. i wonder if that is a problem. i will do as much research on that as possible

Regarding your Raccoon creek contamination info:
This is a map of where Raccoon Creek Reservoir and the new WWTP is located now. http://local.yahoo.com/info-23656239-raccoon-... I certainly don't remember the Raccoon Creek hazwaste results being widely known in '95 but interestingly enough that is when they began building the new WWTP. What is scary is that the city's reservoir (named Raccoon Creek Reservoir) is right by the polluted area and has been there for YEARS. Also, there are a few kids with cancer who live on roads/houses built since '95 within 1/4 mile of this reservoir/creek/WWTP. For crying out loud, the contaminated creek runs through the Community Park where all the kids play (the park is located between the old WWTP and the new WWTP). Mysteriously enough, the community park's pond has been drained and most people don't know why. Sure would be interesting to see some sludge sample results. Keep investigating - contaminated water/soil is almost always the link to clusters. Best of luck in your search. |

FYI, The biggest source of waste in the area is Whirlpool Corp. which: "According to Whirlpool, the [Clyde] facility is the largest washing machine manufacturing plant in the world based on volume." Apparently it's the pink elephant in the room that noone wants to consider b/c it employs half the town. And if Clyde just upgraded their OLD WWTP in '95 - how efficiently was the old one handling disposal....? But maybe their waste didn't go there - just a thought.
Of course there are other plants in the area as well...but none nearly that size. The only other thing I can think of in proximity to the WWTP's, reservoir, and new developments with cluster victims are the massive (over 30 minutes worth) fireworks shot yearly from the reservoir over the WWTP, new developments, public pool & community park. Would be interesting to see if the city has MSDS on those. Many of the cancer victims have attended 1st UMC which happens to be located across the street from the community park and down the road from the old WWTP. Would be interesting to see a map of the municipal water lines - if there was a release - where would it go first? |

As a new member of People Investigating Toxic Sites I just wanted to say Im very sorry and saddened to hear about little Alexa Brown. My prayers are with the community of Clyde.

Im with People Investigating Toxic Sites and we are looking about any information on a dump that is listed in the “Clyde Community Meeting December 16th 2008" it states under dumps and clean-ups that :“Amert Operated from 1970-1976, Green Creek Township. north side CR 185, west of Maple.” Does anybody have information about Amert? Any information would be appreciated.

"Does anyone have information on either of these two old Clyde dumpsites: 1) Amert Dump, located north side of CR 185, west of Maple; and 2) William Warnecke Landfill, location unknown?"
You can google CR 185 & Maple street under zip code 43410. CR 185 is shown as Riehl Road. The area is primarily agricultural, although in the last decade a lot more residential developments have sprouted up within a mile of the area. Many houses are on well water, there are surface creeks that run through that area, and many orchards and vegetable markets are in the area as well. It is truly scary just how many sources of contamination there are in this county and the surrounding area. It amazes me that people are still so belligerantly opposed to clean, sustainable, earth friendly products and energy when there are such obvious repercussions from man-made pollutants irresponsibly disposed of for future generations to deal with. Maybe those obsessed with investing millions in expanding the Clyde school district's buildings and sports complexes should more appropiately focus on how to ensure the community is a safe place to live where people actually want to raise their children w/out the fear of getting cancer. Sorry, will get off my soapbox now. |

I agree...EPA is government and has its limitations. People of Clyde should hire their own investigators for a real answer in a prompt time frame. |

Does anyone know when the City of Clyde stopped using Raccoon Creek as a drinking water source?
I saw a PBS special a couple months ago about two scientists research whose work brought them together to understand that an explanation for some cancer has to do with what the grandparents had in common. For example, a period of economic depression that affected their diet for a period of time. This had an effect on their offspring-the grandchildren, not their children. It made the grandchildren more susceptible to cancer. Also, there was a difference in the timing as to how this affected the male vs. the female grandchildren. It was a fascinating documentary but I don't remember the title of it. I wonder if anyone has considered what the grandfathers of the affected children may have in common.

For some time as a Psychic I have been trying to gather information about the cancer cluster in the clyde area and most recently I see a drum with a hazard waste insignia and the workers are in protective clothing and I am told this kind of thing getting into the ground water is what is causing this problem in this area.
My source in spirit compares it to the Love Canal problem they had years ago where they found hazardous materials under the ground that no one knew about or refused to acknowledge because as we know during the Love Canal situation it was found that a housing development had been built over an old dump and that was then getting into the water supply. |

According to my psychic source in the spirit world who worked through psychic edgar cayce inherited traits determines the kinds of disease decendants are prone to get, and he says whether they actually get the disease or not determines the way they take care of their bodies through diet and of course we can all become healthier and prevent some of these through food and vitamin supplements that we take which may also help us to be better protected from the environmental things which attack our bodies. I saw the documentary report and it indicates that economic times causes some of these things but the truth is some of the cheapest foods are the best for us,like cereals, breads, beans, rice and other grains, but many people still believe having these things all the times indicates they cannot afford anything else but the truth is our diets should stress more of these foods and cut back on some of the foods that offer more fats and cholesterol and I think if we use these grains, fruits and vegetables to excess and use the fattier meats and proteins to compliment the grains and fruits we will all be a lot healthier and also have more savings on the food budget. In addition to that I believe everyone who wants to be healthier should make sure they have a good multiple vitamin and I personally also make sure I get a good B-Complex vitamin each and every day with enough calcium and vitamin C which I also take larger doses of in supplements which i buy at bargain prices through the mail from Puritan Vitamins which at this time has a great sale buy two get three Free and when these sales are on I buy vitamins for six months to a year and make sure I stay healthier through these means because we need to protect our body cells from all the hazards and stresses of everyday life and my source in spirits calls the B-Complex Vitamins the Spark Plugs of Life. Now as far as cancers he tells me that Folic Acid protects us from cancers from the productive organs. He has also taught me people who have inherited black hair traits need to make sure they get plenty of Thiamin and folic acid and people with red hair need Folic Acid and Thiamin but in that order along with a good balance of all the other B-Vitamins in good balance from food and supplements. We must look to our parents and grandparents and take into consideration their hair color, eye color, body type and etc, and then take a look at the traits we inherited from them and we can begin to figure out what we need in the way of foods and vitamin supplements to help us ward off some of the health problems they had so we can be healthier in future generations. Brown hair is governed by Niacin which I am told gives us our brown hair color and he also says niacin can make us taller and thiamine and folic acid he shows me as a short smart vitamin and to my way of thinking his advice to me causes me to think that in future generations we can help to make our kids taller, and smarter and a lot healthier if we know these things and then if we can keep the toxins out of our body we will be well on our way to a healthier longer life in future generations. |

Just because one surface creek runs a particular direction, does not mean that groundwater is flowing in the same direction. Pre-regulated waste and waste facilities did not have liners in the soil and contaminants would leach into the soil and migrate with the groundwater forming a plume. Look at the county soil and topography guides to see which direction the GW is flowing in suspicious locations.
One of the biggest historical causes of brain cancer are chemicals found in pesticides which of course are used everywhere from household 'tenting' fumagations to large-scale farm or corporate use. Every person has the choice and ability to test their soil and water they come into contact with. Be proactive instead of living in fear. |
