First the golf course manager was fired and publicly threatened, then came a demotion for the maintenance manager, then the Main Street director was fired, then the Fire Chief and now, of all things, the Human Resources Manager. All of these people were long term employees dedicated to the city of Freeport. One wonders who is next, the City Secretary, the City Attorney, the city janitor? One also wonders what makes a city manager with no training and no experience think he can manage a city without experienced personnel in place. Maybe he will be able to recruit experienced folks who will toe his line because the job market is so tight. You think?

There was some talk in the past about Freeport being a blighted city. That discussion centered around the condition of building and infrastructure in the city. The dedicated employees the city manager, mayor and a couple of city council members have dismissed were instrumental in improvements that have removed that blight. But, now a new blight is upon the city. It now faces at least 4 EEOC complaints plus at least two retaliation complaints. In case the good people of Freeport don’t realize it, the EEOC issues fines for such violations. What that means in the long run is that, to satisfy the ego of your new expensive, inexperienced, untrained city manager, you taxes are about to go up. That should help bring new businesses to town. You think?

I moved from Freeport because it lives in the dark ages. Why don't the people there check the longtime history of their now incompetent city manager?

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
