Is Ervinton High School closing down?

Lord help us all get past the stupidity. 1st of all no school board in the world would close another school down to get money for the football team! Yes Clintwood and Haysi had a bigger football program than ervinton did, but that's because both those schools had more kids. Clintwood 9 - 12 grades, and Haysi 8 - 12 grades. Thus more kids at those schools equal more playing football, thus more parents, family, friends and students. The money that the football program gets is from their gates......... More people ....... Bigger gate! Very simple. So for you to get on here and say they closed ervinton so they could pump money into the Clintwood football program is just plain stupid. If you could do math you would figure out how their teams gets money, and I'm really sick and tired of Clintwood being blamed for something the School Board does, the board is comprised of members from each area of the county, not all from Clintwood. The kids that have transferred to these others schools are adjusting and making friends, their doing great, its the adults that can't make the transition. We are all losing our schools and will become united into one school. When we can all stop putting lables on different areas and start labeling this DICKENSON COUNTY SCHOOLS, we will never grow apart and together we can accomplish much.

Hope they have this school about complete that people talk about!!! Why do I say that? The state is broke, the country is broke, they are acting like they are trying to save money now by closing schools. This new school that will house that many students will cost $45,ooo,ooo-$100,000,000 by building standards today. I have been a home builder for over 30yrs., so I know about the cost of building. Schools cost 25,ooo-28,000 per student; and that doesn't include a lot of materials used by the school. Check it yourself!!!

They wouldn't close a school to get more money for another, wake up it happens every day; what world do you live in!!! There is bias every day, people will even cheat kids in something as simple as a football game with crooked refs, and you don't think thsy would close a school to benefit another. I think this will be my last letter, for you can't talk to closed, or blind minds!!! Or people who don't look, or think!!! You don't make that much money at the gates to pay for your sports programs, and band. If by the way you were right you are punishing schools that don't have high attendance at sporting events!!! So then they have to make up the difference, and it all comes down to what school has the best sports program; and there we go with another issue!!! Schools are there to learn first, and by Ervintons grade scores they have done very well!!!

Rebel is a piece alright! Where is YOUR heart? Just wondering where you were the first of the year when all the rumors started, in April and then in May and June when closing became official? Where were you when the school board had meetings? Where were you when we protested outside the school? Why didn't you respond when they had it on TV or the write up in the paper? Where were you when they closed down the elementary schools last year? You graduated in the mid 70's and yet you did not know anything about our county or school closings until Sept. of 2012?
All the smarts ones know you are just a yankee starting trouble and you talk about other people from other states being dumb??? Look at you... you knew nothing about what was going on until afterwards. I believe you are not from Ervinton and just someone who wants trouble to start and keep fueling the fire!
Everyone is moving forward so please just stay in yankeeville because you are not welcome here by my family.

I agree with real Rebel..I have never seen a more truthful post made. Outsiders need to just out of it!
